Transmission Question ...

So, my 08 Tundra has:

"6-speed electronically controlled transmission with intelligence (ECT-i), sequential shift mode and uphill/downhill shift logic, TOW/HAUL mode"

How does the "Downhill Shift Logic" work? Does it downshift automaticlly to slow you down when going down hills? I have not had the chance to pull my 5th wheel yet (getting hitch installed as I type this) but we are going camping over Memorial day. Just wondered how this works.

I believe that's exactly what it does, it does that for me with a full load going down a mean steep pass here where I live.

You can also force a downshift by tapping the brake pedal.

Ok, sounds good. Thanks guys. Can't wait to see how it works when we go camping next week and pull our 5th wheel.

The transmission logic shift control actually helps slow the vehicle on downhill descents, by automatically downshifting the tranny out of overdrive and into a lower gear in order to hold the truck back on steep grades. This works best in Tow/Haul mode. It works somewhat in normal operating range, and is activated by pressing on the brake pedal while descending a hill.
