Just picked up my dbl cab 5.7 yesterday... nice truck.

The dealership said that putting tow mirrors on it was a 'no go' because the wiring harness was not similar... different pins or something.

I'm finding that hard to believe. My truck does not have the heated icon on the mirrors, nor a rear defrost.

I really want the tow mirrors on this truck, even if the lights aren't operable (heck I can probably wire those in). Just want to know if this is going to work or not before I order them.

Well, the mirrors will fit, but you won't have most of the functions. If you just need a bigger mirror, you'll be OK. If you want all the functions, you're out of luck unless you replace the wiring harness.

tow mirrors

I just swapped my sport mirrors with my stepfathers' tow mirrors. Piece of cake. The only thing that I think doesn't work is the defrost. The power works and the lights/blinkers work fine. I have a dc and love the way it looks now!

ok. I popped the mirror cover off to look at the wiring harness. I have a pic but can't post it right now. The wiring harness only has three wires running to the mirror. Red, green and black. I'm assuming that is ground and a wire for each mirror control motor. That leaves no connection for the turn signal on the mirror. Toyota parts says its a whole differeent wiring harness but I don't buy that. Either way, of seems a little short sighted not to match harnesses or prewire for all mirrors, especially on such a well designed truck.

I miss the tow mirrors that I had on my dodge and it looks like I'm outta luck here unless I want inoperable lights (and maybe mirror control too)

I would of thought they'd all be prewired for any type of mirror but I guess not. I have an SR5 that came with the regular heated mirrors and swapped them for tow mirrors with no problems, lights work and everything.

that is the one thing that is not pre-wired on tundra grade trucks (and i guess the mpg calculator) .. i swapped mine out for tow mirrors and signals and everything work fine
