A few tow questions....

first off, I believe I read that the SR5 comes with the "tow package" ???

Hmmm. Don't think I need everything that package includes. Definately not the 7 pin plug (my boat is a 4 pin). All I really need is a hitch reciever.....

But my real concern is, I hope this tow package doesn't stiffen my ride up very much, as my boat and trailer is "really light".... only about 1300 lbs, with maybe a 100 lb tongue weight. {yea.... I really need a 400hp truck to pull it ;-) Just couldn't bring myself to spend nearly the same amount of cash, on half the truck (another Tacoma).

Your thoughts ?

Thank you,
Fish

im not sure if they all come with the tow package .. but you may be correct

my friend pulls his yamaha ar230 with his lifted crewmax limited with no problems at all

i have the tow package and my ride seems pretty smooth

although i guess i cant compare to one without the tow package because ive never been in one

+1 on bigger boat :P

The ride should be the same. The tow package comes with the 7 pin AND a 4 pin wire connector so you are covered there. I have trailers with both and it is nice not having to us any adaptors with this truck. The tow package is worth getting even if you don't use it to it's full potential. It helps the resale if you ever sell it.

id actually say quite the opposite. If you have a tow package, people will assume you used it (which you probably have) which means your tranny and alot of other components have been worked alot harder on your truck, then one without a tow package.

Yeah, using that logic, if you have any mods on your truck....you must be drag-racing the hell out of it, or 4-Wheelin' the shit out of it. The truck is made to tow, it'll take it as long as you do your pm's and stay within the limits.

i completely agree

if a guy has a supercharger, i will assume he has been drag racing .. if you have a lift i will assume you have been 4-wheelin'

i understand the truck is "made to tow" .. but it doesnt mean that a truck that has been towing will last the same as a truck that hasn't been.

a truck that tows is put under alot more stress, which is plain logic.

as we all know, "mods" dont help out the resale value of your car, infact they hurt it.

its not a lack of faith in my truck, im not saying it cant handle it.

im just saying I (and 99% of other people) will be cautious about buying a vehicle that they know has been towing alot.

im not talking any shit, im not here to argue.

i am only saying i dont agree with what the MOD said, about having a tow package will help the resale value.

this has never been, and will never be, a true statement in the used car world.

Well brothers, its obvious you haven't sold a lifted truck before. Yes there will be those that are cautious due to the probable use by the original owner but there are also lots of people that are willing to pay top dollar for a pre lifted truck if its lifted and maintained properly. I've lifted and sold a few trucks and found the top dollar buyer every time. I'm just sayin even though it may look like its been worked, raced, or blasted through the desert, you can always find the right buyer. Just be patient.

I think a tow package does add to the value of a truck. If only for the extra equipment and gearing you get. But when all of the chips fall... some will want the tow package and some wont....

I believe the Sport Appearance Pkg deletes the Tow Pkg and don't think Tundra Grade includes the Tow Pkg as standard equipment but as an available option.
