Towing "drop" question

I'm thinking of towing my ~7000 lb trailer with my 07 5.7 Tundra (tow package included).

I need to know roughly how many inches I should "make" my truck's bed to drop when I hook the trailer up to it. This will help me determine which trailer hitch tongue to buy.

If I know how much the bed should drop, I can pick the right tongue that will cause that drop - if that makes sense.

By tongue I mean the metal object the trailer hitch ball attaches to.

I'll have perhaps 200 lbs in the bed of misc. gear.

Thanks guys

a regular hitch will do. the idea behind getting a hitch with more drop than the standard 2" i beleive?, is that for a lower trailer/lighter one say a waverunner, the suspension will not lower or compress any since the waverunnder is such a small load. So by getting say a maybe 5" drop the waverunner sits relatively level with the ground like its suppose to.

Get the standard drop. But make sure the receiver and the ball are rated for at least 8k lbs or more. Most, like at say walmart are for 5k lbs or maybe 6 tops.

Thanks Tampa - turns out a 5" drop did the trick. I wanted to make the trailer level after it was hooked to the truck and in this case the trailer has 4 wheels, and it leveled off after about a 2" drop from the truck bed.

I did have to shop a bit for a 2" ball rated for 8,000 lbs. Uhaul happened to have one on sale for like 9 bucks.
