Installing Reese rails in '08 6.5 bed

Hi all,
I just finished installing a set of Reese rails for a 5th rail hitch in my '08 Tundra. The installation went pretty smooth, with 2 minor exceptions:
The "bed spacers" that reese provides to go between the rails and the bed floor seemed too thin---and the hitch pin measurement is considerably different then what Reese said, they listed "3 1/2 inches" in front of axle, where I am measuring about 6 inches in front of axle.
Because the rest of the rail mounting went as the directions described, I am assuming the reese instructions are wrong for the hitch pin measurement, or else I am just measuring wrong---
Anyone else notice this?

My hitchpin is about 5 inches in front of the axle with reese hitch/rails.

What do you mean by too thin (on the bed spacers)?

What did you think of the frame? I was suprised how thin it was. Have you towed your fiver yet?

I'm having mine installed next week.

I'm getting rails installed in my '08 next week...(supposed to be this week, but I just discovered a trans leak ). I'm having it done by a local travel trailer dealer, and they say they have the rail kits in stock, and that is all they need, but when I look online, Reese shows an accessory kit for Tundras, so which is it?

I think it depends on if you are having the regular or "signature" rails installed.

How hard is it to install? I have "fair" mechanical knowledge, ie, I do my own oil changes, have installed cold air intakes, and rotate my own tires. Oh, I even installed a front hitch once on a GMC, would that compare?

It was not especially hard, but not easy either. At best, very time consuming, and it took me 2 full days. If I had to do it over, I would pay someone if it was under, oh say, $300 dollars. I guess it depends on how much your time is worth to you.
