Is 74" standard for travel trailer beds??
RV Queens are not really standard on trailers. They are used a lot though to reduce the size of the bed, giving the impression of more room in the bedroom... Many lines have a full size queen as the standard feature (the Thor Jazz and Keystone Larado come to mind). One line I looked at had a 60X75 bed... I am in the process of buying a tailer and have done a lot research on the internet and have visited quite a few RV lots. One thing that is clear, the salesman will tell you anything to sell you the trailer. You have got to sceptical of everything they say.

We made the maiden voyage with no problems. We towed the TT about 30 miles to a local campground. Some moderate hills but nothing major. The Tundra did really well and had no problems keeping pace at 60mph. Any faster than 60 and the TT swayed a bit. Gas milage was 10mpg average.

All in all I was impressed with the trucks ability and will be going on a slightly longer trip this weekend.

BTW Tedstundra the bed was a hair short but was comfortable.

Kfuller,

You stated "Any faster than 60 and the TT swayed a bit."

I have an 05 double cab and recently bought a 25 ft trailer weighing in at 4500Lbs. We recently went from Idaho to California, about 650 miles and had no issues towing. I am looking at getting a newer Tundra just to have the extra capacity (tow the trailer watered down). One thingthough, I have a 10K rated equalizer hitch on the trailer. Pulling at 65 to 70 mph with no sway whatsoever. You may want to look into one.

We have the reese dual cam sway setup and I have been told that sway is normal at 65 or higher. My old setup was a lighter TT that was also 9ft shorter and it too swayed at 60-65 as well.

Any clue on any of this?? Maybe someone here can answer this. Has anyone read their owner manual?? No I mean really sat down and read it??? I hope this is a typeo!!!

Under the Maintenance Interval it says to “TIGHTEN THE CHASSIS MOUNT BOLTS” and “RE-TORQUE PROPELLER SHAFT BOLT” every 5,000 miles under towing conditions. And every 15,000 miles if you drive normal. They SHOULD not loosen. Maybe its the wrong bolts or need stronger bolts. This could indicate the is not as strong as advertised.
At 30,000 you need to replace the SPARK PLUGS no matter if your towing or not. That isnt going to be cover under the warrenty, it aint cheap. At 60,000 it recommends the “INSPECT THE ENGINE VALVE CLEARENCE” if you have been towing. This is the recommended maintenance so it is not cover under the warrenty (warrenty just expired). Doing a valve job is not CHEAP. With shop rates at $50 to $70 dollars a hour theres a couple hundred dollars. If they dont have to remove the head!!!

They dont tell us this on the commercials. Hope you have a torque wrench and some skill or a deep wallet!!!!

If you know anything please let me know!!!

To find out exactlly what you can tow you need to take your truck to a cert. weigh station and have it weighed perferably with a fuel tank and the people you will have in it. This will give you a accurate weight of your truck. Then look at your GCVW. This is the maxium weight your truck can tow (trailer, truck, cargo and occupents). The GCVW is found on the door jam label. Subtract the truck weight from the GCVW and thats your trailer and anything that was NOT in the truck at the time of weighing can haul. If your gonna cut it close load up your trailer and everything in your truck and weigh them both at the same time. This is the most accurate way to find out. Dont be suprised if you can only tow less then what you thought. They set the max towing capacity on the basic truck they dont tell you this. Then say you want a Crewmax with 4X4, sunroof and all the options. Guess what the limit you can tow just decreased because all those option just made your truck heavier. So you may only be able to tow 8,500 depends on your truck.

Also if you lift your truck your reducing its towing capacity

Try it and let me know.
