Just another nod to say "yeah, it's completely safe/fine" to do so. I haul my bikes around all the time with the tailgate down (450f and 250f) in my 07 tundra.

i used to haul two bikes in the back of my 2002 tacoma 4dr all the time. hauled a 520sx and 125sx from dallas to LA in the back of the little truck. one thing i learned: the tailgate is fine but the jacks are WEAK. i got a flat on right-rear wheel about 50miles outside of Abilene. pulled over to change the tire. left the bikes in the truck not thinking about it. i got the truck lifted ok but then the jack blew out due to the extra weight of the bikes. now my truck is stuck off the ground but just barley. the flat tire was still touching the ground so i couldnt pull it off. so head's up. i'm sure it's not an issue with the tundras but something worth considering.

With the size of my lift I now keep a 1 ton floor jack in the back of my rig. One thing I need to watch out for is the cracking tailgate, it hasn't happened yet but when I load up my bikes I "RIDE" up the ramp! Imagine if the tailgate snapped while I'm doin that! 07 WR450F and 05 YZ250 2smoke with tricked out rhino in tow! I'll post a pick next time I'm loaded up, I just never think about taking one at the time.

LOL... that is too funny man. btw, when the hydro seal blew on the jack i was in full "torque" mode on the jackhandle. the result was me slipping, falling headfirst into the corner of the truck cutting my forehead open. i was pissed! well we were in BFE and no cell signal. i unloaded my 520SX and rode it down I20 till i found a gas station, called DPS and they brought me a jack. my mechanic was with me at the time, he stayed behind with the other bike, but for my birthday later that year he bought me a 1ton jack. still have it!

i ride up the ramp too. i'm too short to make that leap of faith. i'd almost rather buy a new tailgate then smash my shin, again. in all seriousness, i dont question the integrity of the tailgate. i gave my Tacoma the same treatment and it was more fragile than the Tundra's. No doubt some people have had issue but i just dont see it happening from mx bikes.

The main worry should be the tail gate coming apart from weight on it as listed extensively on site forums. I have had a few other Tundra's and just strapped bike in and put in gear (always) and never had any issues. I now have a long bed and all toys fit inside with gate closed, no worries !

The moto rear tires don't even touch the tailgate on the DC regular bed so weight is not an issue holmzzzz. (SEE DBDOLAN'S PIC ABOVE)
