Not sure exactly, just most of the 2008 models I have seen when I go in to buy parts are alot heavier then mine. Mine is a 27' but a 26' with a slider of the same brand as mine had a 1295lb PIN weight, for example. Alot more then mine does.

It seems there are a lot of people who share your opinion, and a lot that don't. My own limited experience (at least) gives me complete confidence in the Tundras ability to pull the heavy load. It really does have the power. I had one feedback that makes sense concering my experience: perhaps I didn't put enough pressure in the airbags, and the trailer was kind of porpoising (sp?). Which would match the the sensation I was experiencing. I'll have to adjust the pressure up next time I tow to see if that smooths out the ride. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

A word of caution, and to let you know I am not a towing veteran but have been gathering info for some time now. I know 2 people that pulled trailers/5ers that were near but not exceeding the tow rating of their vehicle and it pulled fine, plenty of power, smooth ride, no sway, etc etc. Both had to change trannys at 50,000 miles and 1 guy had to change 2 by 50,000 miles. These were not Tundras mind you but remember just because it feel fine does not mean it is not doing damage.

I don't think that a trailer weight of up to 9000 lbs is really reaching the Tundras towing limits...It's rated to tow 10,600 lbs. The main concern is really the hitch weight, and that is something that must be taken into account. The rear axle is rated at 4100 lbs, so a really heavy hitch could be a problem. Air bags, supersprings or other load assist add-ons don't change that at all. I don't know whether Toyota has over rated the trucks capacity so that towing a heavy, but below specified rating, load will do damage or not. A lot of us is going to find out in a few years.

I agree but a heavy near capcity payload with a heavy trailer can cause problems down the road. Towing a trailer, any trailer will put wear and tear on a truck. I had a friend ruin a Suburban's tranny pulling a 3000lb pop up trailer in a few years. I am not preachin and telling people don't do something, it is your truck but just because you made it to a campsite and back and it felt fine does not mean everything will be dandy in 2-5 years. I pull a 8000lb trailer and I just cross my fingers I have this truck in one piece in 5-7 years. That is why we buy them though.

With all that said. Your tranny will only last as long as you maintain it changing the fluid and watching your temp and exe.. if you tow heavy often more service is required. I drive truck for a living and am over my gvw almost every day. and i would say, for what the tundra is. 1/2 ton its great at towing and people 1/2 ton is 1000 pounds. in your bed. so when it squats when you put 1500 in it, thats what it should do.

I mounted my 5ver onto my hitch for the first time, expecting to see a significant lowering of the bed due to the weight being applied to the springs. But guess what? The truck rear depressed a little less than a inch. Not sure why. I'm sure I must have about 1500 lbs riding on the rear axle, with the hitch weight of the trailer and the weight of the hitch receiver (about 80lbs). I have no actual weights as yet; just going by specs on the trailer and the hitch. I was only carrying 5 lbs in the airbags at the time, I guess just that little bit was enough to support a lot of the weight and keep it off the springs.
