I pulled about 10,000 lbs (Case Backhoe with trailer) with my Dodge Dakota rated for 5,000 lbs. Advisable? definitely not. Did it make it to where I was going? Yes it did. So I would say that while the Tundra can pull 13,000 lbs, it's not rated for it and probably not advisable and yes you could even get a ticket for exceeding the GVWR of your vehicle if you were stopped and checked. For years I pulled 5,000 lbs with my Dakota until it finally blew up on the interstate and that was the reason I bought my Tundra...( I won't ever have another transfer case rebuilt at any place like AAMCO). My two cents.

Anyone pulling a 5th wheel with a crewmax!!!????

If so any pic's?
TY
YES!!!!

I am towing a fifth wheel with my crewmax. It was people on this forum that helped me to make the decision.

Im using the Superglide automatic sliding hitch , and yes i can do a 90 degree turn!!!!

It is a 30 ft fifth wheel that has been modded inside to haul my Honda race car . total loaded weight is just under 10,000lbs with the car, all my spares and luggage( with no water in the tanks).

It pulls great, stops great and has no trailer sway. Im so glad i went fifth wheel

Ill try to post pics

im uploading a pic now. Oh man, the towing on the interstate is the best part. there has been virtually no sway, even in high winds and passing semi's

I have been towing tag alongs for years , usually at or near the vehicles tow weight rating. A properly equipped fiver is easier and more user friendly

Pros

Safer towing. Virtually no sway. Better balance of vehicle

Ability to do tighter turns I can do a 90 degree turn if necessary( I have an automatic sliding hitch )

total vehicle length ( trailer and truck ) is shorter because some of the fifth wheel trailer is over the bed and you dont have the "tounge" of a tag along.
This reduces truck/trailer length by 5-6 feet for the same length of box of RV

Cons

Hitch fills up a lot of the bed. ( although this has not restricted me at all. I put things on or around the hitch . It keeps stuff from moving around!! )

The automatic slider hitch is expensive and heavy

Bed space is taken up while towing as the trailer hangs over the bed ( although things can still be put in the bed )

I also installed airbags , these are good to have even if you are hauling a heavy tag along. These Tundras dont look bottomed out when they are.!!! But if you look at the springs while the truck is loaded , you will see the springs flattened out pretty good with even a moderate load

Ok i should have a pic up in a few minutes

There we go, 20 lbs of air in the air bags. 7200 lbs empty plus 2000 lb race car, 300 lbs spares tools and luggage Around 100lbs of food/stock my girlfriend put in the rig. the hitch and other stuff in the truck 300lbs. big stinky dog 100lbs.

There we are right around 10,000 lbs.

I chose this unit because it had a lower hitch weight , that was my real limiting factor. tows and stops great. 65mph uphill is not a problem. Much safer than towing a tag along that was 8200lbs. And towing 8200lbs with my 2006 F150, well that was scary

I posted incorrectly when I said 8000lb. pin weight, I ment to say 800lb. pin weight. Where the pin is located is where the weight will be located in the bed. If the pin is relocated toward the front of the 5er, the plate can be kept in front of the axel resulting in more weight carrying capacity.
