I own a 07 Tundra 5.7L DC 4WD with dual exhaust and airraid coldair intake. Last week I towed a 4pl enclosed snowmobile trailer with 4 sleds, gear and a fifth sled in the bed. Loaded 5 passengers in cab and travelled 800 miles round trip. Gas mileage on interstates at 70-75mph = 8.5-9.5mpg On highways at 55-60mph = 10-10.5mpg. Pulled the wieght easily. Friends were shocked at the power this truck has when needed

air bags for towing
Was told to ad firestone air bags to pull sprinter 301 side ramp garage/ bed room 34' toy hauler. unloaded wt is 7.500 with 3.700 carrying ,total 11,200. I'm only putting a Harley in it and some bicycles, so total wt should only be about with food ,water.clothes.9,000. Hitch wt is 1,100 loaded max wt. I should only be about 900 lbs. ? what is every bodys thoughts about this combo as I'm new to RVing, Is this to big of a trailer, Has any body experianced any suspention problems? Thanks for any Info

Hello. New owner here, just picked up an 08 Double Cab 4x4 5.7ltr 2 days ago. It is replacing an 01 Ford Excursion V10. I have a 32 foot TT that weighs in around 9000 lbs, hitch weight around 1000lbs. I have a weight distribution system and anti-sway camber system on the TT. I had to upgrade my Ex with helper springs, adjustable Rancho Shocks, and even added some Radius Rods to help prevent spring wrap. I also have the Prodigy Brake Controller. I plan on towing this camper several times this summer and am concerned that the Tundra will sag in the rear and I will need to add helper springs to it as I did on the Ex. Anybody have to add helpers or will the Tundra do OK with the weight distribution? I'm not concerned about power, this Tundra 5.7 has 70 more horses than that Ex did with the V10 - I used to average about 6-8mpgs towing that camper, depending on speed and hills. It pulled great, but did wander a bit.
Thanx for any info/advice. Keith in NJ |

Hi, I have heard the way to go is to get timbren enhancement suspension system. It's half the price of air bags, and rated 1000# more than bags. not to mention real easy to install.I'll know more tomarrow as I'm ordering a set for my new crew max limited 4x4. Good luck gntburson@verizon.net
