C channel frame and Equal-i-zer Hitch
Is anyone using an Equal-i-zer (brand name) hitch on a C-channel frame? It looks to me like it should work. I have been told by some that I have to weld a piece in and box the area where the bracket mounts on the frame.

What is the trailer you are towing? If you are concerned about the c-channel on the truck, forget about it. Most trucks have been c-channel for a long time and had no problems. The concern is if the trailer tongue is c-channel. The way the leverage works with the WDH, c-channel is much more likely to be damaged. Will it work, maybe, but do you want to ruin a new trailer trying to find out?

The brand name of the trailer is Corn Pro - CornPro Trailers
It's a brand new trailer. I am going to have two plates welded on where the WDH bracket is going to ride. I will have 3" in either direction of the hitch WDH mount boxed in for extra strength. I checked with the manufacturer and made sure it would not void any warranty. They were non-committal on the WDH issue. |

Gotcha, I thought we were talking RV trailer. Personally, I would have them weld the entire tongue all the way back to the main trailer frame. The problem is that the WDH will put a bunch of leverage on the tongue, and it MIGHT fail at the weakest point. Doing the whole tongue frame will get around that issue.
