2007 Tundra Tow package with Sport Appearence ?
I am getting a 2007 Tundra DC. Arriving in October 18th With Sport appearance package and unfortunately the Sport appearance package in Double cab deletes the Tow package, I can add it at the dealer they want $550-$650. Ant the tow capacity with that goes down to I believe 8300 Lbs.
My question, is that worth the price, Or should I get an aftermarket hitch... Anyone know if there is anything I need to watch out for with the sport bumper, Matching it with the regular chrome bumpers and so forth. Anyone by any chance would have any suggestions? Nazar |

I also have the Sport package, but I dont have the need to tow anything, so its no big deal to me.
Having that said, I think thats pretty high for bolting a hitch onto a truck. I dont know what kinda problems the setup might have though such as bumper interference etc.

You have to go with a standard hitch due to the roll pan bumper. The factory hitches tuck up under the stock bumper so they have to install this style on the sports.

I have decided to have the dealer put on the tow hitch, At least now it will be a Toyota Part. I am leasing the truck and they can residualize the hitch so it only made like a $10 difference on monthly payments. Not even worth spending extra cash in hand.
I can't wait my truck is being buiilt this week. Flying down to NC from NH to pick it up. Hopefully by the 20th of this month. |

Sounds pretty expensive to me. An aftermarket hitch install on my 1988 F-250 was about $425, which included the receiver (the part on the truck) and the load stabilizer tow hitch assembly for equilizer setup, along with a trailer brake controller. So I would find a UHAUL shop and have them install your hitch. I've used UHAUL for all of my trailer hitch installs and haven't had a single problem. They will also do electrical wiring checks on your trailer and truck for you if your having problems.

Is the dealer giving you all this?
For V8 models: V8 Towing package includes integrated receiver hitch, Four-pin and seven-pin connectors with converters, brake Control connector, supplemental transmission cooler, Tow/Haul mode switch, transmission temperature gauge, Engine oil cooler (5.7-liter V8 only, standard on 4.7-liter V8) |
