towing with tundra..

we are looking at a tundra to tow our 25' airstream. Is there anyone that tows an rv? Want to know how it is towing with tundra pickup, if you need anything in back of pickup, how do you handle that issue? The tailgate cannot come down fully to get into the back, would like some feedback on this issue..thanks

need more details. whats the weight of the trailer? whats the amount of tounge weight (it's usally 7-10%) and all cargo that you think you would bring with you plus passengers? I just got back from a 500 mile trip to pick up a 31 sea ray SS. boat and trailer are rated a 9500 lbs. the trailer was a triaxle all aluminum trailer. and it pulled great compared to my 27'formula boat and trailer rated at 8200lbs the only reason why it pulled so good was because of the extra axel. and I averaged 10 MPG it was all country roads alot of hills and stop signs. the tundra did not feel shacky or underpowered at all.

Damn Hit Em! A 31 ft boat is almost a small yacht! That's a big-ass boat to be pulling, I could pull 2 of my boats then

heres a pic of the searay, this is the boat that my dad bought and I towed her back for him.

Heres a pic of the cockpit.

I dont have any with it on the Tundra yet. because the maiden voyage in this boat we had really bad winds and when we were on shore this boat and my boat were tied together anchored out and my back rope snapped and the two boats started smashing together needless to say there both destroyed, but will be back for more next summer. theres about 50,000 dollars dammage between the two.

I tow a 27 foot Aerolite camper and a 27 foot enclosed United snowmobile trailer. Each of these trailers tow easily. With the camper, I use a eight distibuting hitch but but don't have it very tight. The crosswinds don't effect it as much with this hitch. The camper weighs about 5500 pounds loaded. With this hitch also I can open the tailgate to get into the box. With the snowmobile trailer I just use a standard reciever hitch and it works fine. This trailer sits a little lower and is narrower with a v-nose. This trailer weighs 4000 pound empty and about 8000 fully loaded with 5 sleds. I can't open the tailgate with this trailer but store gear in the trailer anyway.

Have a new 32' Travel trailer........weighs o/a 9200+ loaded.......key with towing that much weight is to have a solid weight distribution and sway setup. I keep the payload on the truck to the bare bones as to not overload. Tongue weight is about 830 but that is before about 80 pounds of hitch.
Have a dbl cab and it has done well over some descent mountains to get to a few sites. The length is the issue really more than the weight.

This last weekend i finally got a chance to tow our car hauler and race car. I used to pull with our 2002, but man this is night and day difference. Truck was stable as heck all the way to the track, 90 miles, lots of elevation change of Highway 14 north bound to Willow Springs in Rosamond, CA. It was like the car trailer was not even there, and i had the bed loaded with 6 pairs of wheels and tires, over 300 pounds of tools and equipment, and man was it comfortable. Brakes worked amazing, loved it, it did what I bought it to do and did it better than i thought it would
