Bilstein 5100 strut knocking

I had a set put on my 08 Crewmax just before Christmas. The wife and I were on our way back from Arkansas and I noticed a knock coming from the passenger side front area. Took it to a local tire shop and they said it could be the strut or the strut mount. I took it to the place that installed them and they would swap it out so they ordered one.
Has anyone else had any problems with them? I love them and think they ride great but I hope it was just a fluke.

I too had the 5100s for a while and noticed that same noise while playing in the sand dunes. i thought i had broken a mount or something. so i took it easy and drove home and never heard it again, until i did more offroading. i came to the conclusion that when the shocks get hot from high speed bumps something starts rattling or knocking. not sure though cause i broke a shock a short time later and replaced them with some camburg coilovers and have never heard that noise again... the noise was loud like a large rock hitting the floor boards over and over again.

Those shocks heat up and just stop working. For example my friend has some on his 2500 half way out to the lake 4hours in the shocks just don't work anymore. They just cant get rid of heat fast enough to take the beating of countless hours of driving,

I have seen failure threads on the 5100 shocks which I have so wonder if quality has gone down or too much stress off roading shocks causes failure?

They have to be better then stockers?
