I have a 2012 Double Cab TRD Tundra. I have a 3/2 spacer lift with blocks in the rear. Rides a little rough now so I installed some Bilstein 5100's last night. Took it for a ride and didn't notice any difference. What I did notice is my stock Bilsteins don't fit in the 5100 boxes. They stick out 2 inches. These 5100's are supposed to be 0-1" or 2", I thought these would give me a better ride since I am lifted 2" in the rear but now I feel like I need to install the stock bilsteins since they are longer and provide more stroke and not at max capability.
Am I thinking clearly, I expected the 5100's to be longer. I did notice they were at full extension in the box, but a buddy of mine installed some on his truck in the front a couple weeks ago and when we cut the banding they expanded. Mine did not, just making sure I don't have to do anything to these except remove and install. Thanks
Might want to double check the part number and make sure they didn't send you the wrong shocks on accident. (Or you accidentally ordered stock length and not the 2" lift model)
After pulling them out of the box, did you try to compress them and let them rebound at all? I'm not too key on how the bilsteins are designed, but maybe they didn't get charged or something?
Only thing on the shocks are these #'s 110411 E249 HO, nothing comes up when I google search that number. Found part # 100411 on ebay and it says they are 0-1" for tundra's. Looks like they may have sent me the wrong ones. I have a 2012 Tundra TRD.
Can someone who has the 0-1" Rear Bilsteins look and see what there shock says?
I have a 2012 DC 4X4, and I replaced the stock shocks all the way around with Bilstein 5100's. I just got under the rear of the truck and the rear shock has #091333 E429 HO stamped on it. My fronts are on the middle ring setting and they are #24-232173 . If I remember right I believe both sets were banded and when I clipped the band I was able to exercise the shocks. I got them from Low Range Off Road as a kit with a differential drop as well in there. Their part # for the rears were (BE5-E429-HO) for 0-1" lift.
Hope this was helpful Night Hog
