The belt on my truck recently broke so I bought a new one and installed it; the belt was running fine, no squealing or movement and everything was aligned properly. I ran the engine for 2 min before it broke again. Upon closer inspection the power steering pump pulley was ridiculously hot. The pulley looks to be in good shape, spins easily, and has no wiggle to it. I'm not quite sure what's up.
hows the other pulleys feel/look? The PS pump may be fine at low speeds (turning by hand), but may be locking up under load. Whatever it is, it should be very apparent once the engine is running (and belt installed). The drive belt is a pretty wide belt, and to snap in under 2 min? Did it shred or was it a clean break?
