Nope. I did check the wires. I repaired one a while back but its still the same and doesn't look bad. I started the truck the other day and those lights were on and haven't figured out how to fix them yet.
If I disconnect the battery and reconnect I'm able to select 4wd. but the minute I move the truck even a few inches forwards or backwards the lights start up again and 4wd is disabled.
I have a scanner but it only reads CEL (to my knowledge). Well I started pulling wire trying to duplicate it once the truck wasn't moving. I pulled the harness that goes to rear ABS/Speed sensor etc and 4hi flashed, 4 low flashed, and ABS and Traction were solid, so I can rule that out since 4low never flashed. Did it again to the front driver side. 4hi flashed, and ABS and Traction were solid. connected it back and up and did the passenger side. Nothing happened, at first. I also found that there was water inside the connecting clip. I drove it for about 1/8 mile (no lights) disconnected and then the lights came back (4hi flashing, ABS/Traction solid). Took it back to the house, used the air hose to spray it out real good and reconnected it. Drove it about 1/2 mile no lights, 4wd works and engages fine, 4lo works fine.
I'm not sure if the ABS/Speed sensor 4wd harness needs to be replaced on the passenger side but if it doesn't come back and next time it rains it does, then I think I have myself an answer. Shouldn't be too pricy if I can find it online.
Thanks for all your help guys. More info to come when I can re-duplicate the issue. Going to drive it much farther today and see if the lights come back on.
That's bearing slop so when it move the speed sensor cant read the ring built into the bearings. Worse than that, it will come apart or lock up on you, replace them.
With the size of the wheel /tire combo and the offset they are under much more strain than designed,
this is all starting to make sense.
Called Toyota they are saying the same thing as you guys. Wheel bearing and or hub assembly. The service manger does remember my truck and agreed to have it towed and both those items replaced under warranty. I did not expect him to say that. Welp gotta go get it towed. Atleast this is nothing out of pocket. I'll update this post once all repairs are made.
Thanks again to those who were quick to post replies and help with this issue!
Ended up being the hub and bearing assembly. Replaced and covered by warranty. All problems now fixed! No loose wheels, no lights, 4wd works, truck drives perfect again! I'm very grateful for the service manager being so cool about this and covering it.
They paid to have it towed there too. Not something you see on a flatbed every day lol.
Lol well if they asked me to pay $12 I would of. And no I bought the lift from bulletproof. I installed it myself too. I don't think the dealer offers 12" lifts and 40s from the factory lol. That's why I thought it was so cool. Aftermarket huge lift on 22x14 wheels with a -76 offset. I clearly caused the hubs to go bad and was planning on replacing them off rockauto but the service manager said he would do it for me so I'm not gonna turn that down!
The SM must be banging Punch's old lady behind his back.
