had my air pump/sensors go

apparently the air pump on '10 tundras is a common faulty part, but my dealer just replaced mine and then told me the sensors went bad as well..check engine light stayed on.

they said they'd never seen this so i have to take her back next week for new sensors..anybody else have these go? they told me somehow they got water in them, no idea how..

Are you sure that the light is from bad sensors? Usually the code is for a partially stuck open AIP valve. What was the code number that was thrown?

I agree, bad sensors are rare.

well, the light was originally for a bad pump, according to dealer #1. they were awful so i went to a different one to have the work done and after replacing they pulled the same codes as before but didn't mention which. i'll ask them next week and update

well jfc this is turning into a total shit show

they replaced the sensors yesterday then drove it around for a bit and everything was fine and called me to come get it. i get there at closing time and the CEL comes back on and obv they don't have any techs there so i have to leave it again.

just got off the phone and they replaced the battery (cool, b/c it was leaking and it temporarily saved me from having to do it myself) but that didn't work either and evidently they've gone through all procedures and have now opened a case w/ toyota to figure it out. they said they're probably looking at replacing the ECU now, depending on what toyota says.

also getting a really loud clunk going from Reverse to Drive, so that's awesome. i'm running an Icon Stage 5 on 35s with streetaco's C/B drop, so that's the steering rack, yeah?

as an aside, i have a ffv..anybody know if they swap out ECUs with a non-ffv if i can supercharge it now?

all this and i'm supposed to be taking it to Whistler, BC (from Colorado) in the next week. didn't get codes from them yet because i'm furious..really effing things up

They need to provide you with a comparable loaner so you can still take your trip. I'm sure they have a used Limited 5.7 crewmax sitting around you can use until yours is fixed.

welp, turns out a wire was fried somewhere. i guess when the sensors go it torches the wiring in there, but that info obv wasn't in the TSB so they had to go through all of that to have toyota tell them what really happened. o rly

called em at noon and they hadn't heard anything yet so it took a max of 3.5 hrs to sort it out when they knew what to look for. figures

picking it up in a couple hrs..fingers crossed
