Heater Problem?

Hey all. I don't know if I have a problem or if this is normal for the Tundras. I have an '08 that I got in May. When it got cold last week for the first time, I finally needed the heater and I wasn't pleased. First, I can't stand heat on my face coming out of the vent. No matter what setting I had it on, floor or defrost, or both floor and defrost, I still had heat coming out of the vents. I know I can close the vents but that is a pain the arse. At the same time, the amount of heat coming out at the floor seemed quite low. Closing off the two driver's side vents didn't increase the hot air to the floor either. In fact, it had trouble keeping my ankles warm. I don't know if this is the norm for Tundras or if I have a problem and need to take it in to the dealer.
Thanks in advance.

No You need to take it in , sounds like your servo is bad that switches the direction of air. I had this problem with my celica, not with the Tundra.

I have to agree about the air blowing out of the vents. What a pain in the butt. If I put the selector on the floor, that's where it should go. The air from the vents doesn't come out hard but it does come out. I'm happy with the amount of heat I'm getting so I would have your looked at.

I can't redirect all the air to the floor either, which is where I prefer it, rather than blowing from the dash vents??? This is the first truck I've owned with this problem. I shut the dash vents off,but don't think I should have to

Thanks for the replies. It is starting to look like that heat coming out of the vents all of the time is the norm for all the '08 tundras?

I have already complained to TOYOTA about this and the fact that the other morning at -3 degrees it wouldnt even melt the snow off the floormats!! If TOyota is going to sell a truck with a "Cold KIt" it should at least do something to make it work in cold temps.
Could have something to do with all the engineers being in Austin Texas or like climates.
I also have heat coming out of the dash vents and even if I close all of the dash vents off there still isnt very much coming out of the floor outlets.
Toyota syas it is operating normally....I say BullS**T
My old Silverado would cook you out if you left it on high....itwasnt as fast as the TUndra but the heater was supercharged!!!
If someone knows a fix for this...LET ME KNOW!!!

I would have to agree, The heater/Defrosters in these trucks BLOW I live in Pennsylvania and when it is cold the defroster won't even melt the snow off of the windshield even after driving 35 miles to work. For the heater, if I get in the truck with cold feet I can forget about getting out with warm feet! There are some good qualities about these trucks but there are also some bad ones as well!!! Right now I am leaning towards the bad ones as winter is setting in again! Tonight I got in and fired up the truck and now I have the engine light staring at me! I am getting very dissapointed with this truck! I wish it would have been made in JAPAN I think it would have been a better truck!

This drove me crazy for a while. Now that I know the solution, it's still driving me crazy. Yes, it is supposed to do that. No, I don't know why. It is a stupid design flaw.

The solution is to hold the recirculate button in for 10 seconds. Then the outside vent will stay closed until you turn off the engine. Otherwise this damn thing will open the outside vent 3 minutes after you push the recirculate button.

I'd like to smack the engineer that came up with this idea. I don't think it is safe for me to lean over and hold the button in while driving.
