I just drove from Las Vegas back to Maine (no not in the Tundra) and I can tell you one thing:
After driving 3-400 miles, I don't mind pulling over for fueling and to get out of the vehicle!!

Thanks for the testing , and posting your results . Good to know you can drive a little farther when on empty .

Safety feature? I guess they need to add a speedometer that reads 10mph fast. And a tach that shows an extra 1000 rpm. And a clock that always reads 15 minutes ahead of actual so I'm never late.

Personally, I'd much rather have truth data.

Um, the manual lists the truck's fuel capacity as 22 (26). It's guage is for 22 gallons, but it holds 26. Reserve! Its best practice to not let it get to E, but if you do, know that you have another 4 gallons to find a fill up station.

Of course, if you're one of those people who set their alarm clocks 10 minutes ahead, and then after a short while adjust your times to compensate for those 10 minutes, you're screwed.

Bingo. And with a range of barely 350 miles (22 x 16mpg) that is exactly what many will do. So give me real data. On all my guages. Fuel included. Don't make people use their odometer as a gas guage, assuming its not intentionally miscalibrated as well.

I have never had to put more than 18 gallons in my truck. I can go 2 weeks on 18 gallons then by that time, my fuel gauge says 1/4 tank.

Wish I could say the same. With my current commute, I'd be filling up every four days if I payed attention to my gas guage.

It's not a problem. In southeast Toyota has roadside assistance where the rest of you don't so that reserve does come in handy. I don't suggest anyone run their tank bone dry. Not good for your fuel pump and filters. All the trash you pick up at gas stations settles in the bottom of your tank and then ends up in your fuel line when you run it dry. It cause damage to these filters and pumps. A good practice is to fill up at 1/4 tank. Cost around $60 at that point. Even after it clicks off you can still put in at least 2 gallons.

i agree with Mickey .. its not good for the fuel pump if you let the tank go empty all the time
