New Member with a Heads Up for Everyone.

Hi....great site and a lot of good information here. FYI... I bought a new 08 Tundra DC Limited 5.7 about a month ago. A week after I had it I noticed an oil spot on my driveway. Took it back to the dealer and they said it was the oil pan gasket leaking and replaced it. To make a long story short, since then the oil pan has been removed twice more and it was still leaking. After getting no where with the dealer, I decided to jack up the truck and take a look for myself. What I found was not an oil pan leak, but a leak around the the dipstick tube. I remove the dipstick tube and found 1/4 of the oring was missing. I went to the dealer got a new oring reinstalled the dipstick and guess what? No more leak. So...if any of you guys are fighting what you think is a oil pan leak, check the dipstick tube first. BTW...I also found a TSB addressing a leak around the dipstick tube.

Hey I have an oil leak just like that! Thank you for the information! It sounds like your dealer has a bunch of dip sticks for mechanics! Ha!

Haha, good one Maxo! I've been pretty lucky with having non-leaky vehicles my whole life. That's some good info and it's also great that you were able to do the fix yourself.

Way to go....The dealer didn't bother looking around for it. That's just techs going after a job that pays them more. I use to be a tech for chevy....then I got a life and stop the nonsense. Good deal in researching for tsb's. Not many people would do that. I constantly check for the Tundra's and Prius's and check my vehicles. This is the only way to stay on top of things. The only one I seen mention something close wax MAXO. As you will see on this forum that a couple of threads have the DC vs CM. I'll step out and say it for a DC you are the exception. Really do appreciate you in putting out helpful information for everyone to use. Thumbs up
