Vibration when driving DC with rear windows down
I have an '08 double cab and was out driving with the kids in the back seat today. They asked me to put the back windows down (the first time I've had them down since purchasing it). With the front windows up and one or both of the back windows down, the truck started shaking like a plane in turbulence. It was real loud and unbearable. It went away if I put the front window down. Has anyone else had this problem?

Windows
That my friend is a pressure differential from the aerodynamics of the truck. It is not a problem at all. You will just have to crack one of the front windows to aleviate the problem. I don't think I have ever been in a 4door vehicle that does not do this.
Hope this helps 2008 Double cab SR5 5.7 4x4 *******19.5highway MPG******* |

I guess it's normal. I'd never experienced anything like it before. I was out with the kids again today and wound the windows down again just for the heck of it. It wasn't as bad today. Like someone said, I think it was the combination of the speed I was going, the road I was on, etc. that caused it to vibrate so much the first time. I remember back in High School when one of the science teachers showed us a video of this bridge out west. Something about the conditions and wind caused the bridge to undulate up and down like a sine wave until it collapsed. I think I met those same conditions yesterday.

Bg, yea mine does the same thing, just crack one of the fronts a little bit it goes away, I think mine is caused by turbulance off of the tow mirrors? No biggie have had other cars do it someworse than others!! Oh and that bridge was probibly the Tacoma Narrows bridge back in the 60's alot was learned from that collapse about bridge construction and wind turbulance!!

I had an 02 Ram and had no problem with this. When I got my 06 Silverado, I started noticing the same explained noise. It is pretty bad and annoys the heck out of me. My rear window does not slide but not sure if this would help the problem.

I think that the problem lies with the way some interior elements are arranged in the different vehicles .
Or maybe not .
