Go to pick up new truck at dealer and already BROKEN

Hi,I am new here but here I go, Dealer finds the truck I want over 250 miles away . They send one of their employees to go get it at another dealership. Well on the way back the person calls in and tells them the truck is not running right and he is still about 75 miles from home. Well,he keeps driving with the truck miss firing or skipping ,this is what I was told by the mechanic. The mechanic said some codes came up but he had to call out to California to find out what the codes mean. He told me that the engine has low vaccum pressure. Well I have not finalized the paper work on the truck yet,was going to do that today, but when I got there to get my truck and sign for it,SURPRISE I find this CRAP out .No call from the dealer or anything. My wife and myself are wondering if this is a problem anyone knows about? Also one of the mechanics told me it may be a stuck valve, jumped timing or a head gasket. The dealer told me, we will get it fixed, and then asked me"Will you still take it". Not the best way to start out the ownership of a new truck.

Several ways this can go. You can probably get more off on the truck or have something installed at no cost. This is if you want the truck. My problem is why he had to contact California for codes? I thought all codes were the same no matter what state you're in. Now them not telling you is your bargaining chip. I'm not fond of codes. Had that issue on my 03 F-150. That will worry me on the truck. Like you said not the best way to start out with a new truck. I'm also worried about the dealer not telling you anything. What else are they holding back?

get the dealership to tell you EXACTLY what codes popped up, and what they mean. It should be very easy for them to do.

If it's something minor, just get them to drop a few bucks off of the price, but if it's more major, walk away

Run like hell!!!! When the horseless carriage replaced horses the HORSE TRADERS became CAR SALESMEN. How long was that truck on the other dealers lot? Why didn't the gopher return to the original dealer? What damage was done while driving an impaired vehicle? Don't YOU be the one to find-out.

Get a new truck and be happy how could a brand new truck break down just driving off the lot that is unheard of.

Pick out a different truck.. I drove by the dealership today, and there were 20 or so new Tundra's on the lot. If they don't have another one, they will be able to find you one. I personally would not start out a deal with damaged goods. Not when we are talking about that much money....

No Way!!!

Don't do it, wait it out to get the one you want, who knows how much damage was done to the truck while driving it. Trust me you will never know the whole truth.

Hi, update, the engine has a broken valve spring and did not drop the valve. The valve is fine. The dealer is going to give me the 7 year 100,000 mile warranty for free if I will take the truck after the fix. So what do you all think??????? We are thinking this is a OK deal.

I think you ought to be able to get more. Press them a little for some add-ons or money off.
