This is the section for problems, but.....

doesn't the Toyota Tundra still rate right up there with the top trucks on the market ?

I know when I looked on Edmunds.com, the ratings were as follows

Chevy Silverado 1500; 8.8

Dodge Ram 1500; 8.9

Ford F-150; 9.3

Nissan Titan; 9.3

Toyota Tundra; 9.3

I guess what I'm asking is, "Are their at least a few Tundras out there which don't have any paint problems, don't leak anything, shift just fine, etc" ?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Logic tells me that if you have a forum section "just for problems, then most of the posters will be discussing... well... problems" ! Just kind of unnerving to see "so many problems, at one time, in one small place".
.......especially when your a (typically) poor guy, fixing to dump $25K in one big lump !
Well I guess I'm the other person. Only 1 issue so far and I considered it as a matter of convienence. Pass mirror wouldn't auto close but every 5th time it would. I was at 15,000 miles for this. Part was ordered and 3 days later put in shop with oil change, out in 1 hour 15 minutes. It took only 45 minutes to replace mirror and another 30 for oil change and paper work. I'm at 24,000 miles and I bought my truck July 14, 2007. Received wife's 07 Prius on July 17, 2007 and she has 12,000 miles and no issues yet. It has been since 98 that we had a problem free vehicle. I had Ford's and Chevy's. Bad customer service and the constantly going to fix the Ford's and the one Chevy truck was ridiculous. When you reach 20x to fix a vehicle within 1 - 4 years is too much in my book. I dumped my 06 Silverado LT3 Ext Cab and took a great beating on it. I loss $7,000 up front on it just to get rid of it. Customer service was so bad with changing headliner 8x filing Lemon Law and losing in Arbitration along with factory rep accusing me of pulling headliner down. Telling me I'm the only one with this problem and the dealership was only replacing them to please me. I had to order the headliner every time it was to be replaced. If this is so that they replace the headliners why is it the first time I went in for the change of headliner I received 2 days earlier a notice from the parts dept that I had 2 weeks to make appt and change this or it will be sent back. This was the only one I received. What happened to the other 7? Well we know they just pushed up the headliner back into place. Simply done and 2 days later it was down again. When they did replace it which was 3 times I can tell is from the grease fingerprints on the headliner all over it. They tried to give it to me like that. Now everyone can see why I'm happy about staying on the road with my truck now. This was just the chevy one. Not to mention the 3 fords. For me both chevy and ford would be lower. How about being called about being satisfied about you service you done which was a week later and your headliner came down in 2 days. Or the other question "HOW MANY CHEVY'S DO YOU OWN"? Does it matter you can't fix the one I have there. So this can happen to all automakers not just Toyota. It's how customer service handles it for you. Or should I say Enterprise who sees me come in and says Not the truck again? Well enough said.
I've had the paint problem with my Tundra on one side only, no mechanical problems with 13k on the dial, I have a Celica with no problems what so ever at 111500 miles.
Well Brother Fish, considering there are 5575 members on this site, and if you go through and count all the members with issues you will find the ratio does seem relatively high. I know this is a small site and there are lots of issues but this site is here for that reason. Besides members and visitors comparing Mods and add-ons they also share stories of issues and dislikes. If I had any issues I would hunt down a site like this to find out everything I could about the problem. In my case I found this site to meet cool people like yourself, post pics and view pics. This very thing you brought up has been gone over many times before on this site. Some people just need to step back and see that this site isn't just about fun driving and mods, its also a support group. Issues and problems are naturally drawn to support groups and thats where you get your numbers bro. Hope that all makes sense.
Dez my back hurts can't support...Just kidding...Like Dez said it's pro and cons here and we all help each other and we also have the best moderators and support staff to keep this awesome site going. For someone like myself typing with one finger on each hand and having as much posts as I have I get involved alot. So far my truck is trouble free but I do remember where I came from with the issues of the other vehicles I have and if I can help someone out just and give some insight of what happened to me helps them a little bit I'm happy to obliged them and it also helps me the same to understand what they are going through. Evenn it's just letting them know they're not alone with this issue.
Mickey had a truck just like my chevy. I was a die hard chevy man until I bought my 2004 2500HD, lets just say 50000 miles and 9 pages of sevice history including 3 trannies. Now my wifes 2000 monte carlo is a different story 198000 miles still running strong, minor repairs. I guess what seems to be true is everything is manufactured by humans and machine nothing is flawless, do your research test drive and hope you make the right decsion, I am pretty confident I did with my choice. I could have bought another GM at employee cost but chose to go with Toyota for their reputation in the past. I guess that can change too, but what fun is life without risks???
Thanks very much guys....
your replies make all the sense in the world.
How many people would have never even thought to go online, to talk about their Tundra "unless" they had a problem ?
Thanks again,
Fish
