So, about these rust issues ???

Is it always on a portion of the truck which is chromed ??? That would be a good thing for me, as I won't have any chrome on my Tundra anyway (not that I don't like chrome on some vehicles... It just wouldn't go well with my styling idea).

OR, is this rust in an area with the dreaded "thin Tundra paint" ?

I have to say, these rust and paint problem threads are worrysome.

I guess if my (pyrite mica) paint goes to crap in the next couple years, I'll just have to do this to it > Camo Wraps for Trucks, 3M vinyl camouflage, Camoclad
I'm already planning to do my kick panels in Mossy Oak Shadow Grass, from day 1, anyway (to match the boat which will be permanently attached to it).

Hmmm,
Fish

Most rust problems on this forum was behind the back bumper. Few had it on the rear chrome. Afew others had it on the paint also. I can't speak for the paint problems but the rust on the bumpers and fog lights are pretty much trucks up north.

Understand and I loss a 78 Camaro LT to cancer I call it. The whole rear died. I should've never taken the car to Boston for 9 months and the winter.
Here in Jax it's just the salt spray you may get when you live near the beach.

I had all my lug nuts (including the lock nuts) replaced by the dealer due to rust. But I don't understand how the center caps and emblems can rust. Aren't they plastic??? Is it possible that rail dust has embedded into the plastic and that is what is rusting?

Regardless, this is very strange for a Toyota. My 2 year old RAV4 has NO rust issues whatsoever. Makes you wonder what's going on.

Just what I saw on other threads, maybe some wheels have alloy centre caps? I'm a little worried about what other problems are going to rear their ugly heads in the near future. I hope everything is worked out before my warranty runs out.

I'll check tomorrow because I have an extra cap in the glove box. I know mostly its plastic. It does has some wires on the inside which can rust I guess.
