More Rust!!!!!!!

I washed and waxed last fall my 07 Tundra.
Now while the temps are above freezing, I just gave my 07 Tundra a detail wash where I go in all corners, wipe out the doors and so on.
During the winter, I wash as much as possible, but with temps in the teens or below, it is just not possible to wash.

Beside the bumper, with is well documented in the threat here: Rust!! I now found more ugly rust!!
First I found these small spots a week ago, which however washed off and did not show up again:



However, you can see in this picture, how even the Tundra sign rust!
I tried to polish that with an old cotton off and it did not work. So I guess that will attack the door paint if not replaced!

Now today a looked everywhere and found this on the driver side backdoor:


A quick check on the other side and there it is a little better!



Now that is lousy for a truck with is just 14 month old!
I guess the truck will spend some time now in a boddy shop!

Yep! I have this problem too. I just looked at the same area as Marc and sure enough, the paint has been blasted off that spot. I haven't got rust there, but its just a matter of time. Looks like Toyota didn't bring that protective tape down far enough. That part is exposed to being blasted by crud from the front tires. I have mud flaps, but that far back, they don't do anything.

I guess running boards would protect it?

as in: bare metal??? What happens if you scrub at it? does it flake away? Or is it rust stains from the enviroment? It kinda looks like you've been splashing around in something evil (like salt/acid/iron deposits?) and it collected where roadscum usually collects. Maybe the weatherstripping has chafed through the paint in that doorsill photo...and that hose coupling and bracket look nasty- definitely not a paint issue there. What do they put on the roads? What's in the air? If the truck is rusting that bad/that fast, you won't have any trouble meeting your rust-through deadline. Maybe we'll all have to go to Mexico for real paint...or just coat the whole thing in WD40. No rust on mine yet.. and no real wax either. It lives outside and they use de-icer here, but no acid rain. It's snowing again so I'll reinspect another day. Keep us posted.

The paint is removed at the spot in the picture, same on pass. side too. What you see is primer. Once the primer wears away, bare metal will be a problem. Nothing from the door is physically touching it. Its simply exposed to road debris and looks likes its been sandblasted.

I may just put a dab of black silicone over it and be done with it.

On my truck it's down to the bare metal.
To what to do?
Since I am sueing Emerson Toyota anyway already, I just added it to the list and wrote it up, mailed it to Emerson and CC the court.

The only way to tell is to have someone look at it who has them.
My guess, it would not make a difference, because they are further out then where the problem zone is.

Looking more at it, I think this will happen with all Turndras.
It's just the way it is constructed and just a question of how many miles you drive. Of cause, as more sand and little rocks are on the road, as faster it wears off.
In order to prevent this, plastic should cover this area as it does a little above.
That should have shown up in their preproduction testing!
Toyota like many other car manufacturer, test their product on the back of their customers!

I have SS and no sign's of rust yet on anything. Not even the rear bumper.

I got 5K on mine since NOV, my tube steps look like HELL, bumpers like SHIZZZ, and even some spots in the body. Also getting rust on the fog lite rim as well.....this sucks

I don't have anything and paint is still evident on all nooks and crannys.
