Big red went through a hard Kansas and Missouri winter and has no signs of rust. I do wash and wax regularly, even in the cold weather. 13500 miles on the odometer.
Now I'm in San Antonio Texas so I should not have any problems.

Oh yeah, Kansas and Missouri does get its fair share of cold weather. Zero is nothing new to the area. We had about five feet of snow this past year. Now I know that's not a lot compared to your part of the country, but it can still add some rust to your vehicle in a hurry if you don't care of it.

I don't know what San Antonio will feel like this winter. I have heard lows in the 30's and highs in the 70's. That's got the keep the bugs alive.

Everything will rust with time. And im not saying that the Tundra will never rust. All im trying to get across is that a little bit of surface rust is nothing to worry about.

48k without one problem!
I bet you have some killer trails up in Maine. I’m bored with what little trails we have down this way.

I’m a Tundra owner for life. I will never get rid of this truck, so therefore I’ll drive it like a truck! I will buy the new DC a little after this one is paid off though. Something about a 5.7 supercharged that puts a smile on my face.

Yes, I enjoy driving my Tundra.
However, I got totally PO'ed by Toyota and the dealer.
All they had to do is replace the bumper without the hassel they put you through!
My next car will be a Honda, Nissan, VW or BMW!

Trust me I know how you feel. If I would tell you about my experience with the dealer you’d probably feel a million times better. To make it short and sweet, it involves a court case, lots of money, time and two trucks. I came out on top because I had my ducks in a row, and it was evident that the dealer was trying to pull an okydok on me. I understand that you are pissed off, but it was the people not the product that tried to screw you, but to each his own I guess. Just thought I’d share that with you.

Sorry to hear this.
However I don't feel better over other persons missfortune.
It is not only that dealer, it's how Toyota sets the rules.

Fare enough. Having bad experiences stinks regardless what the extent of the matter is. Me I’ll never go back to that dealer again with hopes that when I’m ready to purchase a new Tundra (hopefully the new Ivan Steward addition), I will not have these troubles again.

The BBB was not any help in the end... From the BBB,"Toyota inspected customer’s vehicle on June 4, 2008 and found paint concerns caused by external sources and are not covered under Toyota's warranty. Customer not satisfied with Toyota's decision.

Our position remains the same no assistance."

I don't think mileage and time will help that cause. What type of roads you drive on? I have over 35,000 miles. I'm on the road most of my time. Rock chips cause most of the damage. Firsttoy BBB only helps it's customers. As I said before you have to have ligit paint issues. If you think Toyota is the only one that refuses to deal with this issue check the other manufacturers. They will do you the same and say rock chips no paint problem here.

If you are a business, the BBB actually writes to you and tries to get you to become a member. They list one of the benefits being a member, that they "deal and help" you with complains!
To me it sounded like, you either become a member and we swap everything for you under the carpet, or we list any (founded or unfounded) complain as unresolved and make that public!
I had a roof put on and it was a disaster. I checked first with the BBB to make sure that this company was OK.
The BBB listed this company as "Member since ....." with no "unresolved" complains.
When I called the AG I only had to bring up the name and they knew of hand their address and phone number and said they had several law suits pending!
This week I got a call from their telemarketer (my problems with them was 4 years ago) and was ask if I needed any work done!
So I checked again with the BBB and of cause there were “no unresolved cases” and no complains in the last 5 years and I was at least one where the matter was not full resolved.
So, the BBB is nothing else then a rip off IMO.
