It is very simple, the metal Toyota uses is substandard.
I believe it's not the metal , but the plating process from what I've read on forums regarding this matter . just my 2 cents .

What ever Toyota does, other companies know better when it comes to metal.
Don't get me wrong, I still think the Tundra is the nicest truck, if it would not be for the rust/paint problem and if Toyota would not have this unlawful practice of "the regional manager has to see it first" policy!

Don't think that we are disagreeing with you. I want Toytota to do something about my paint also, and I hate all of the excuses that they have given me. They treat it as it is your problem and not theirs..... they need to turn that around and deal with it now.

Sorry to hear about the rust problems. We get more than our share of rain here in Oregon but we don't have to deal with acid rain or salty roads.

How old is your Tundra and did you look behind the bumper?
If you don't have rust, I hope it stays this way.
Like I said, I like the truck, but with the rust issues and what happend with the Tacomas and the way Toyota USA is pushing people off, my trust is very thin!

Beside the bumper, with is well documented in the threat here: Rust!! I now found more ugly rust!!
First I found these small spots a week ago, which however washed off and did not show up again:

However, you can see in this picture, how even the Tundra sign rust!
I tried to polish that with an old cotton off and it did not work. So I guess that will attack the door paint if not replaced!

Now today a looked everywhere and found this on the driver side backdoor:

A quick check on the other side and there it is a little better!

Now that is lousy for a truck with is just 14 month old!
I guess the truck will spend some time now in a boddy shop!

Man.....i am starting to regret having bought a tundra.......i love it.....but i am regretting it.....

I'd be real careful about taking any cues from this guy Yamadog - he seems to either have some funky agenda or be a nut. IMHO he is a troll at the very least.

Take a good look at those pictures - don't some of them look hokey to you?

You got bare metal their, what you think is going to happen, its just a little surface rust. Its not that bad, scuff up the rusty area, spray some rust inhibitor on there, and put some touch up paint on and your good. Toyota is not going to corver that. And if they do your lucky. Like i said in his other rust thread, Toyota really only cares if you have rust coming up throught the paint, then there is a problem, and that is when you should be pissed. But that wont be happening for a very long time.

It rains as much here in FL as anywhere in the country. Not 1 spec of rust yet. I think it was the salt from the winter states that is causing most of this.
