Yeah... and I really do not see that happening anytime soon. I have been talking to my dealer every week about it. Trying to get them to seal my paint for free, since they want $699.00 to do it. They just look at you like you have 3 heads. They keep telling me that I am the only one that they have had that has a problem with the paint. Same story different day. So from everyone that I have heard from.... keep it waxed.

Mich... talked to the Toyata dealer (just had a minute to ask). It was kind of humorous... they told me Toyoguard and Simoniz are exactly the same thing just different names. Then they said if you were sold Toyoguard, then they probably put something cheaper on it then Simoniz. I shook my head and said, you just told me they were the same thing but different names..... I didn't have time to stay... but I wanted to on this one. Just an FYI... but honestly... I wonder what the difference is?

I actually haven't heard much of those concerns in central cal, but did deal with it on a black sold unit. I see the same concerns with my GMC though but since it is a light color it doesn't show up much

OOHHhhh I wonder if he was way off base with that answer. Simoniz you put on every so often? Toyoguard was a one time application.

'08 Crewmax..white,lifted 6", 18" chrome ProComps,35 x 13.5 Cooper SSTs.....habd washed ONLY..with ADAM'S Polish products.....and I just had my hood removed and repainted by Toyota. I noticed 6 avacado sized areas...brown/purple in color. They first said they buffed it out. "There's 13 mm of clearcoat and we stripped just a bit down and got it. " WRONG...I could only see the spots on overcast days. I called Toyota headquarters after the dealership half hearted tried. Took several calls and I think Toyota owes us a huge rebate! My truck was to expensive to be so cheaply painted!!

I agree.... as one of the comments stated, "my paint is like butter". I think that is a great way to discribe how I feel about my paint.

We have talked about sealants and waxes that the deal offers, but I still have a problem with that fact. If the dealers are pushing these products, then they are admitting there is a problem. If there was no reason for pushing these products, then I think they would just fade away (in the dealing process). When I bought my other (domestic) vehicles, I was never offered these products. I only had 1 or 2 little scatches in my GMC, and I had it for 4 years. I never waxed it or had to use any of these products. I have had my Tundra for 2 or 3 months now, and I have had to wax it twice already and I have little scratches showing up everywhere. I really think we should band together and send off a petition of complaint or something.

Where did you find the Toyota headquarters phone number?

Thumbs down No Clearcoat...

It appears as though there's only one layer of black paint applied over my entire truck, and no clearcoat... I managed to lightly scratch the tailgate above the lock after locking my hard tonneau cover.. I'm wondering as they haven't applied a clearcoat to the truck, that this is why everyone is having so many problems?

So.. Mick... I saw on the other thread that you talked a little to the dealer... so did you happen to ask about the under coating on the under side of the box? I looked (and it did get about 45 ), and they did not under coat mine either...

ok... petition has been created, I've just coded this up, so you'll have to bear with me - but if I get enough signatures, I'll present this to Toyota directly.

2007+ Toyota Tundra's Paint Quality Petition

No membership required - please let me know of any bugs/improvements as the ePetitions platform is something I've just knocked together today - thanks.

Please spread and sign!

Yes... I will post any response from them. Has anyone else heard back from Toyota on their paint issues?
