Sounds to me like if I was buying a new Tundra, I would want free rustproof/paint protect included in the deal.

My dealer told me that the bumpers now have some sort of coating on the backside to help with this problem. I'm going to get mine replaced with one of these new ones. I only have a chrome rear bumper.

Southeastern Toyota calls it TOYOGUARD. This is put on all Limited's.

All Toyota's come with a 5 year, unlimited mileage corrosion warranty. I would have this looked at next time you are in for service.

i am going to definintly have them look at it next time. And the whole bumper thing, i think that is going to be a never ending battle. It has to rust from the "inside out." surface rust doesn't count i was told. and does some of the rust wipe off? yes. but unfortunatly some of it doesn't. sure i could use mothers and get rid of it but thats a bunch of b.s. it shouldn't even be there in the first place. enough bitching from my end. i love the truck besides that.

True but the bumpers won't fall under that. Just like I said about Southeastern Toyota and Toyoguard. It's suppose to have an undercoat on the truck. I look under mine and the undercoat is the frame itself and the wheel wells. The whole middle of the bed and cab looks like just primer paint. So I'm not sure about the undercoat. I will find out next oil change about all of this.

Well I talked to the dealer again today. They say that they have never heard of Toyoguard. So... now they are telling me that I should Simoniz my truck for $699.00. I have been doing searches on Simoniz, and what I reviewed does not sound like it is worth it. Has anyone had a Simonized application completed on their Toyota?

I'm with you guys 100%. This is the weakest paint I have ever seen. Out of all the vehicles I have had I have never had paint scratch so easily. I really baby my vehicles. detail them regularly, only hand wash, etc. I really hope Toyota steps up to the plate on this one. Can't imagine what the paint is going to look like after 5 yrs.

I just got done washing my new Tundra and noticed very tiny rust dots everywhere. I'm going to try polishing next....more to follow (I hope "good").
