Key won't turn

Hi guy's

I was wondering if anyone has had problems with there ignition key sometimes not being able to turn on. It's like the key is worn but I've tried my extra one and had Toyota make me a new one off the vin #. Still every 20 or so starts it hangs up and then works after playing with it. It's parked on level ground and the wheels are straight. I've wiggled the sterring wheel, shifter, and brake and have had no luck. Looks like I'm in need of a new ignition. My truck is o 03 auto 4.7L

Thanks!!!

Sounds that way to me. They can get worn out. Hope that's the fix.

On mine if I leave the wheel turned little against a parking curb it does that. I turn the wheel straight little and it starts right up.

I had that with my 03 once and the reason was that the steering lock was not in.
After I moved the steering wheel a little it snaped in and the key worked fine.

Dez I cant do that with the wife's Prius because she has that kind of car which needs no key to start and the square key is left in her purse. There is no metal key to fit in the ignition. You fit the whole square thing in the square whole if you want but there is no need to.

What it sounds like is the tumblers in the ignition box itself is worn and they need to replace the whole ignition box. This means either reporgram new keys or replace tumblers which is not an option, All this will be expensive to do and you must insist on this because once out of warranty you are stuck high and dry.
