Phantom Engine Noise

I have a 2002 Toyota Tundra Limited 4x4 and I have a phantom noise. You can hear the noise all the time but it is especially loud when the vehicle is cold. The noise speeds up its rhythmic ticking in the higher RPM's and sounds like air escaping so my first thought was an exhaust leak. I have replaced both manifolds with Toyota manifolds and the driver cat and this noise is still making an appearance. Anyone else have this problem and find a solution? Possibly Injectors?

Do you notice it more when you get into the gas?

I had it out at lunch time today and it was bad even at coasting... but yea it is usually worse and more apparent while on the gas.

Is it a ticking like a diesel engine with the constant knocking sound or is it a a air leak with a slight whistle?

I actually had it diagnosed yet again from the dealership and now they are thinking that it might be the injectors!

Mine makes all kinds of noises when it is cold.
Do you still have the noise when the engine is warm??

the noise is still there even if the engine is warm... and as for the radio, tried it and it worked until the radio volume came back down

I have a knocking in the engine when cold. Goes away after it warms up. Dealers don't seem to know anything or they are not talking about it. I have built a few engines years ago, and when using forged pistons you have a little noise at startup that goes away when the piston swells up to size. Could the tundra have forged pistons or undersized cast pistons, causing the knock.

Mine definitely has piston noise when cold, but only if giving it gas. This is everytime not occassionaly, even if stopped for a half hour then restarted.

It is injector noise I guess. The dealership hooked up some ears to it and confirmed that. Not covered by my ECP and I get a bill for 150 bucks for the diagnosis!
