Problems with a/c vent

Has anyone else had a problem with the a/c vent just to the right of the steering wheel? Mine just won't seem to stay in place. It always moves to the upward position after I align it with my face. It just won't stay in place. The dealer looked at it but still couldn't fix it. As they put it, "Could not duplicate the problem." Therefore they did nothing to fix it.

Anyone else with this problem? Solutions other than wedging a folded piece of paper to hold it in place?

Yeah, this problem has been reported here on the site before, and I experience it occasionally as well. The ones that have had this fixed at the dealer didn't sound like it really took care of it...

Yep...known problem but I don't think there is a good cure for it yet. Not all of them do it.

The dealers now have a fix, at least mine did. They are installing a felt kit on the 2 center a/c vents. It took care of my floppy vent, the dealer also replaced my clock/mpg display due to some of them loosing time. I didn't have that problem but they replaced it anyway while they had the dash apart. I had really just brought it in to have the stereo replaced due to the volume control acting up a couple of times but they killed 3 birds with one stone.

Did they have to remove the dash to fix the vents?

A little dust and a mist of water did the trick. Made it a little thick around the moving parts so now it's a little stiffer to move.

I am not sure since they were replacing all the other stuff.

Edit: When I think back it seems like I recall they had to remove it to get to them. Or at least the service guy was acting like they had to because he was saying it takes like 3 hours to fix them. They pretty much had my truck all day, I also had them activate my alarm, turn of the beep noise when locking and unlocking the doors and set the remote to unlock all 4 doors with only one touch of the unlock button.

Actually I had the same problem in the begining. After a month it quit doing it so I never brought it in to fix it.
