'07 4x4 engagement clunk -- anyone else notice?

Just picked up my '07 Tundra from it's 6th trip to the dealer this month. On the way home it started to snow, so I engaged the 4 wheel drive, and noticed a rather loud "clunk" from the front left tire area. When I disengaged, I heard another clunk about 1/2 the time which seemed to depend on whether I was on the gas or not. Engage/disengage done at 30mph or less, on snow, wheels not sliping.

Anyone else notice this? I haven't had the truck for long, but I don't recall it doing this before.

Boy, if I have another problem with this truck....(going on the fifth week of ownership, and I've had the truck OUT of the dealership a total of 14 days!!!)

The driver's side of the vehicle is where the ADD motor is located that engages the front axle, so that's what the clunk is, its just the front axle engaging, nothing to worry about. The transfer case will also make a clunking noise occasionally when shifint in or out of 4x4.

Ok, thanks....

Thanks Wildbill, I think this truck has me gun shy now, and I practically hold my breath as I drive it, waiting for something else to break!!!

I get the clunk sound too. It's more noticeable than other 4x4s I've owned, but I've been told its normal. It's not a grinding sound but rather a clunk.
