Not shifting into OD

Has anyone else ran into this issue? My Tundra sometimes (more and more frequently as of late) has not been shifting into 6th and sometimes 5th when in auto mode. In order to get it to shift, I have to pull the shifter into "S" mode and quickly put it back in to Drive, and then it works properly. This will happen on flat roads, up hills, down hills, pretty much anytime. Transmission and driveline are all up to operating temperatures too. I've had it into the dealer once and took the service manager for a ride, but could not replicate it (of course!). Has anyone else ran into this issue? It's pretty much the only thing that is bothering me about it. Oh yeah, it's an 07, DC, 4x4, 5.7 TRD package.

I've had the problem of the trans not shifting into OD. One time on the wife Yukon and another on my Sonoma. In both cases, the transmission burned up. Both were repaired at two different Mechanic Shops. I asked both what caused those problems. Both said the trans. not locking up in OD causes the trans to overheat and burn the the aft section. I would not let the dealer rest on this one and they would have to make some kind of a move toward fixing this problem. Not shifting into 6th[OD] will damage your transmission.
07 5.7 DC TRD.

Hmmm...The only time mine does that is when it is cold and not up to temp. Once it warms up it shifts into 6th just fine. Maybe the logic computer for the trans isn't calibrated right so it thinks it should stay in 5th. Sounds like something the dealer needs to fix. Good Luck and let us know what you find out!!

I just took My 2008 cm to the dealer today because it was shifting into 4 5 6th gears with the torque converter locked up. then it went into limp mode and wouldn't shift out of 3rd. I had 4 lights blinking at me at once. the tech told me it's a solenoid in the valve body but he had to check with a regional rep first. they might also change the torque converter while there down there. I hope I just get a whole new tranny..

I talked at length with the service manager, and he too mentioned about the computer waiting until it was of proper temperature to shift into OD. It shifts perfectly when it is cold, and only on occasion does this when it is warmed up. It just burns a lot more fuel when you're cruising at 3500rpm rather than 2000 for a couple miles before glancing at the tach and forcing it into 6th. No lights ever flash either. Until I can replicate it, the service manager said that they can't do anything, but as soon as I can demonstrate to them the problem, they'll figure out the problem for me. Until then, it's rather frustrating.

That's the first thing that came to my mind when I started reading this post. It would definitely cause the symptoms mentioned.

This may or may not apply, but there is a known "bug" regarding shifting. If you have VSC turned off, the transmission will sometimes get stuck in 4th or 5th and not shift any higher when in Auto mode. Using S mode solves it.

I haven't experienced this since I don't drive with VSC off, but I've seen in mentioned in many posts on different forums.
