05' double cab 4x2 here. Steering wheel was never straight since it was new but no biggie as I didn't really notice it.
Got a notice for the ball joint recall and took it to a dealer here in Charlotte, NC to get it fixed. Since they would have to align the front end anyway, I mentioned the steering wheel and asked if they could take care of it. Got it back still crooked but oh, well. Only problem is, now I noticed the outside of both front tires are wiped almost bald. I had just rotated the tires prior to the recall and they were fine. Took it back to the dealer with alignment specs I got from Tundra Solutions in the hopes of resolving this. They put it on the alignment machine and checked it. the camber came in just barely in spec. a couple tenths of a degree more would be outside tolerances. Because of that, they would do nothing. They wrote on the invoice that I should increase tire pressure to 35 PSI and rotate the tires. The steering wheel is STILL crooked. Called Toyota and they refer me to the dealer's customer care department. When I told the guy my problem, he said "I run my tires at 40 PSI and they don't wear at all!! Rattles my teeth loose but I don't care, my son is a dentist!" I now have to pay for an alignment in the hopes that the posted specs will work, plus I'm out 2 tires. If that's the kind of service I can expect from Toyota they just lost my business. Luckily, my 2001 Tundra never had any problems but if it had I would have known not to buy another Toyota. |

Hello all. First let me say that I love my truck, no regrets whatsoever. I agree with the observation about the gauges and info being a little hard to read in daylight. Other than that, my only issue has been with the stock rubber. I have the TRD Off/Road 18" 275/65R/18s OWL, they are not the right tire for my application and I wish I had driven straight to a tire shop from the dealer and traded them on something a little stronger. I recently had my driveway re-graded, there is a bit of smally woody debris and stubble mixed in with gravel. On day 3 with truck, I had a 3" x 1/2" stick bury itself right through the left rear tire where the crown meets the inside sidewall. Damaged beyond repair, no road hazard warranty, a new one retails for $270 CDN (although not much difference with US $ these days), managed to get one from tire store from someone smarter than me who swapped rubber on day 1 with their Tundra for a bit less, but still a kick in the pocketbook. The stock tires in that size pretty much amount to a 'low profile - off road hybrid', they are a bit of an odd-ball size and being only 4 ply will not stand up to much wear. They are great for city/highway (improve ride quality I imagine) and will be a decent snow tire but anyone who spends time in the 'back-country' will want to upgrade, IMHO ('in my humble opinion' for anyone who is older than 16 on this forum - took me forever to figure out what IMHO meant!!).
The power and capability of the 07 Tundras far outweigh the issues I have had so far. Cheers

07 4x2 RCSB 5.7 TRD, rides a little stiff, nothing I would trade off for the power !!! One of the engineers I work with has a 5.7 Hemi truck, 07 4x2, basically same package truck as mine...... We have tried them out from stop lights, from every "roll" you can think of, you name it.... end result is always the same....
Out of the hole it is rediculous how much faster the Tundra is !!!__________________________________________________ ____________________________________ ^^^ agreed with Hawaii.... gas mileage ....less than great.. |

The only trouble I have had is the damn card holder in the roof console, my wife tried to mash it closed and bent the clip so now it fights me to lock closed. Aside from that the ride quality may be a bit rought at times, depending on the terrain, but hell I'll drive my Toy anywhere. This truck is just plain incredible. It does seem a bit strange how the trucks that have been around for many years and have been given alot of time to work out all the bugs they had, and many still have, can talk so much crap about a new truck that has fewer issues and is kicking their asses all over the industry. I've driven just about any pick up out there at some time or another and nothing comes close to the Tundra. Bottom line!!

The truck doesnt beep at you when you leave your lights on when you get out. I come from a car that had auto lights and I cant be bothered to remember to turn the lights on or off.hahah, but seriously..it is such a great truck for me so far.

Hey guys, a possible solution for those that mentioned they were having trouble reading the recessed dashboard instruments on the new Tundras is to turn up the instrument lights - found that the lights work even when the headlamps are turned off. You should even able to read the instruments with sunglasses on by turning the rheostat to the brightest setting.

take it back to the dealer, if it only happens when you first start it up after it sets for a few hours then the valve seals did seal correctly and will have to be replaced under warrentee. First verify that the smoke is blue
