Well this is my first Toyota, and my first Tundra, but I must say that I trully enjoy it and as for meeting a Hemi, no problem, I took care of that on my way home from Work today..... Ran it from a stop to around 80 and had no problem.... It feels like it pulls as hard as my Gale Banks Ford Excursion (600 hp 1200 ft lbs of torq)...

I love this truck. 5.7 is the way to go.

Averaging 16 mpg over the last 600 miles.
Now have mine - 5.7 DC Longbed. The ride is better than the reg bed TRD I had. Think it has something to do with the tires. Anyway, it's great!! Worth the wait. Averaging 15.8 mpg after 600 miles....

Angry

Owned all other brands of trucks and nothing built more solid than the Tundra's, rides a little stiff but it's a 4x4!

Highway Ride

I have had my new 4 x 4 Limited Double cab for a week. The highway ride is painful. The dealer changed my 20" Bridgestones for Michlin...not much difference. The bounce is so bad the seat belts rattle as well as the passenger seat. Please post any cure for this problem. Had I realized this problem earlier I would have kept my 2002.

I have the TRD package and I have no complaints about the ride, I did notice the 4.7 DC I test drove was a bit bouncy but my 5.7 DC TRD is fine... It rides like a truck that really needs/wants to work, The more of a load the smoother the ride, even a 6x10 cargo trailer really locks it down.

It seems the more you throw at it the better it shines!

This ride issue is only on certain, older patches of freeway that is concrete. My reg cab, std bed, 5.7 is pretty damn smooth, but when I hit a patch of the 5 Northbound near Mission Viejo, it feels like a pogo stick. Adjusting airpressure helps. Got the truck home from the dealer with 42 psi all around. The factory recommended is 30/33 front/rear. I don't usually carry a load in the bed so I put 32psi all around and it made a dramatic difference in ride quality. This truck is very sensitive to air pressure. However, that stretch of freeway in Mission Viejo, still bouncing like a jack hammer.

Cool Bouncing Bed

We all must remember it's not the Tundra, it's the wheel base. I had a 04 Chevy Silverado quad cab long bed 6.0L that did the bed hop. When you have an extended cab with a long bed and no weight in it will bounce, there is nothing to hold it down. I have always had extended cabs and a mid to long bed and there is always bed hop on crapy roads. I traded a 05 Chevy Suburban for my 07 Tundra and love it. This is my third Toyota and my seconded 07" I have an FJ Cruiser. Toyota in my eyes is the most dependable, and holds it's value better than any truck.

As for Chevyman, well where are the pictures ?

were both the Tundras you drove 4X4's? I think the 4X4's do have a stiffer suspension.

Tailgate Rattle

I have the same problem with the tailgate rattling on harsh roads; how did you fix it?

That's hilarious. I now have Hi-C on my shirt and my nose stings.

Problems?

My main gripe is the dim dash illumination and the deep tunnels in front of the gauges. I have to hold my hand over the gear indicator to verify I am in "D", not "S", if the truck is positioned a certain way to the sunlight. 'Never had this problem with any other truck in my life.

My second gripe is the behavior of the cruise control with a towing load. Engine stays revved too high for too long in my opinion. I am only pulling 6-7K lbs from the bumper on the interstate. 75-80 mph. Easy to do.

Third gripe is the tire inflation warning light coming on all the time. Tire inflation is within 1 psi measured with a good quality dial guage.

Fourth gripe is the mileage. I haven't seen 16 mpg yet. Really. 'Course I like the sound of her winding up so much, that's no wonder.

Problems: 2007 CM limited
1. sunroof vibrates/rattles on almost every bump, i have to close the interior "lid" so it doesnt drive me crazy.
2.center console opens randomly and must be shut hard inorder for it to stay down.
3. xm radio antena should have been installed on the roof and not the dash. i dont get reception half the time, plus when i do it really sounds lousy like its am. how much was this option??? $500??? wish i didnt have it. i'll take the money instead, besides sirrius is so much better.
4. something rattles in the back i dont know if its the bed or the tailgate??
5. I live on a dirt road and small rocks get caught in the side step rails (the ones you step on in order to get into the truck) and they rattle for a few miles before they fling out and bounce off my truck or onto some poor guy behind me.
6. navagation system is very annoying that the passenger cant operatee half of its functions while driving. I understand the staftey reasons but all in all its very irritating.
other than these few irritations im very happy with the Tundra. If my 98suburban's tranny didnt go (208,000 miles drivin very hard totally happy with it) i think i would have wated for the 08 hopefully they work out all the kinks. but woulda shoulda coulda.

I had similar problem with the Cruise Control while pulling boat from Florida to Ohio. Turned off Cruise Control and trucked would comfortably shift from 4th gear to 3rd gear in the mountains. With Cruise Control "On" it would shift down to 2nd gear which really pushed up the RPM's. I am pulling 8k. Cruise works fine with 8K load on flat terrain.
