Unhappy I Need a Solution to the "ROUGH RIDE"

I bought my new 2007 double cab Tundra 5.7 three days ago (standard bed). I love the truck and it blows away my old Chevy as far as power. The problem I have ran into, is that when I drive the truck on the concrete portion of the highway, it rides so rough it shakes you everywhere. I have read other forums and one person stated add some weight to the bed and another suggested to put 30-33 psi in the tires. Does anyone have a real solution that will actually work? I Love the Tundra and want to brag on it but it truly does ride horrible on the concrete portion of the highway. It rides great on asphalt !!! It has 18 inchs tires on it. PLEASE HELP...

I'm working on a few ways to fix this.

What package did you get? 2WD? TRD?

It Is a Hard Ride

You've got the same problem all of us have, as part of what gives the Tundra such a high tow/haul rating is the fact it has a stiff suspension which translates into a hard ride. This problem is compounded if you have the TRD off-road package; like I do, with the Bilstein gas shocks.

Keeping the tire pressure between 30 to 33 psi (cold pressure) does help. Besides, I noticed; referring to the spec sticker on the door jam, that's what it should be anyway.

Adding a couple of hundred pounds of weight over the rear axle helps a lot, but I agree, this shouldn't be the answer as performance, handling and fuel economy will suffer.

Going with lighter springs won't work either, as this will only serve to magnify the dreaded bed-bounce problem.

I'm thinking changing the shocks to ones with an adjustable or softer dampening rate will help this problem, although I couldn't say how much.

If anyone out there comes up with, or has, a proven solution, please share it with the rest of us.

It is a 4X4 double cab and is not a TRD package

I am thinking about changing shocks too, I am gonna talk to the dealer 1st though. It has so much more power than my 1999 Chevy Silverado had !!!!!!!!!! Although the Silverado is a much smother ride.

Toyota is working on the problem and is going to send out a notice as soon as they figure it out. That is what my dealer told me and I have heard it on other sites. I would just wait it out and let Toyota fix it at no cost to you.

depending on how redneck you are toyota offers this from shuretrax
shurtrax added truck weight for better truck traction

or you can do like a redneck and do it the cheaper route
a few sand bags or even a cement bag or two.

I you can remove a rear shock and get some measurements, see if Rancho makes a 9000 series shock that might fit. I put them on my Ram and am totally happy with them, in fact I have them adjusted for the maximum firmness and it sticks to the road like glue with absolutely no bounce. I carry up to 4000 lb loads in the bed of my 1500 with just an extra leaf and you'd hardly know it. It's going to thake some legwork, but Rancho makes them for GM,Ford and Dodge, good chance one of those might fit the Tundra?
