Angry Front License Plate Attachment

Just took delivery of a 2007, White, Double Cab, 5.7, TRD. The person at the dealership that put on the front license plate must have been cross eyed. The plate was off center and crooked. It was so bad that the first two people at work to see the truck didn't comment on a nice truck, but instead commented on the license plate mounting.

Question: Doesn't Toyota provide a mounting bracket for the front license plate? The installer just drove the two screws in to the plastic in the middle of the front bumper. Because there was no mounting pads the screws stripped out the plastic and the plate was loose besides being crooked.

Can't believe Toyota would not provide for a better mounting.

The truck is great, but the dealership experience was terrible. My son was with me to take delivery, and was thinking of buying a Toyota. The next day he went and got a Honda. The Honda dealer offered to reprep the truck for me it looked so bad.

Toyota sells a bracket for the front plate, think it is pretty cheap. Take it back to the dealer and point out the mishap with the front plate and perhaps they will give you one at a heavy discount? At the very least they should fix it for you.

Your son bought a Honda over a Toyota because your license plate was not installed correctly by the dealership?

They did the same on my front plate, they installed the dealer plate frame with my tag and just put 2 sheet metal screws through the plastic. I took the dealer frames off and just mounted the tag without their advertising, but the holes were getting slightly wallerd out. I don't think they have any kind of mount for the front plates, at least there is no hardware that I could see for the screws to screw into.

It's a shame a careless / sloppy dealer caused your son to go with a Honda, As for the plate bracket YES there is a mount for a front plate available, I have one on mine DC, it forms the from bumper and fits perfect, then the plate mounts to that!

Please be sure to make some noise about this with both the dealer and Toyota, I assure you this is not a good example of Toyota service &/or quality.

I't amazing how the dealers sometimes forget that they are representing Toyota as a whole and cause cause negetive feelings towards Toyota when really it's just that dealer or even that employee.

I was very fortunate to find a dealer that had as much pride in this truck as I do and tackles every incident as if it was their own personal rig.

Congrats on the new truck, I hope your son is as happy with his Honda as Im sure you will be with your Toyota (not knocking Honda's they make a nice product).

I took mine off and the dealer had mounted 2 flare nuts into the holes they drilled, it looks very clean and the holes don't get reamed out and loose, I am sure you can add these easily to solve the wallerd out hole problem your having.

Thanks for the feedback on the front license plate holder.

The whole delivery process at the dealership was a major cluster ?uck.
I arrived at the agreed to time to pick up the truck. I hadn't been washed or prepped, they lost the insurance card, couldn't find the keys, I had to go put gas in the truck myself, no floor mats available that were suppose to be installed, the bedliner looked like a mud wrestling match had been held in it even after washing, on and on and on. My son and I spent over 3 1/2 hours at the dealership trying to take delivery. That is why we weren't about to give Toyota anymore of our business.

Talk to the general manager at the dealership and tell him how you feel. If you do not get satisfaction from him. Call TMS customer service number 800-331-4331 to tell them your dissatisfaction with the treatment you received at the dealership when purchasing your new truck.

My dealer took the cheap way out also! The next time I am in, they are going to put on a bracket for me! I will insist!

You would think the dealerships in states where you have to have a front plate would demand Toyota to include the bracket.

Ohio has a front plate requirement and my Tundra came with a bracket. I'm surprised this is such a big issue elsewhere. If my dealer had taken two screws and simply drilled them into my front bumper, I would have walked on the deal. Total BS. I'd complain big time!

The part# is PT413-34070. It is available on ebay for $11 plus $7 shipping. Dealers and parts deptartments are useless. My parts dept says they've never heard of 0w20 oil.
