Tailgate cables uneven / excessive noise

I've noticed alot of noise originating from the tailgate area when driving over bumps in the road or any uneven surface for that matter. The noise sounds like a reverberating rumble. The noise is present when the tailgate is up. There is no "play" in the closed tailgate and everything appears tight.

When the tailgate is lowered, I noticed that the left cable has a bit more slack than the right cable. I'm wondering if this is the cause of the noise?

Has anyone else experienced this?

I'll bring it up to the dealer at my next oil change...
