Oxygen Sensort Blowout 2000 Limited

I have a 2000 Tundra Limited with about 86k miles on it and the last couple of days, when i start cold and then warm up and put in gear the engine seems to bog (lights even dim) when i put the truck in D or R. Thirty miles later the check engine light comes on. Trip to the dealership reveals that 2 oxygen sensors have blown out, one on each side (before the cat).

So my question is: was the poor engine performance at startup and gear engage due to failing (and then failed) oxygen sensors or was something else in the motor causing this issue and that in turn burned out the oxygen sensors? Basically I don't want to go out and spend $200 on oxygen sensors if something else is causing the issue, because then I could be buying another new set of oxygen sensors.

Thanks!

Back with my '89 Toy truck the check engine light came on with no preformance issues. I talked to our fleet mechanic and he told me to pull out the air sensor and clean off the crap, reinstall, then disconect the battery to reset the computer. This is for exhaust sensors and a temp fix. It worked for about 15K miles then I would do it again. Try at your own risk I don't want to mess up your truck. Good luck
