'07 Tundra w/ slap in drive train or suspension

Just got my '07 DC w/TRD Pkg. and 4.7L engine. I've noticed that when taking off from a dead stop there is a slight thump in the floor of the truck. Feels like something is engaging in the drivetrain or the suspension is loose. It is definitely not a metallic slap. Doesn't do it all the time and it only occurs when taking off from a dead stop. It feels like it's occuring somewhere between mid-chassis to rearend. I eliminated brakes or pad hangup since I let the truck begin to roll slightly before I give it the gas. Anyone else experience this problem?

Yes. I had this with my truck, but it went away completely at around 2,000 miles on the odo. I was just reading on a different forum that it has to do with the slip yoke having too much or too little grease causing it to have limited travel or binding. There are many others that have this exact issue.

The CrewMax 4x4 that I test drove before ordering mine did that very same thing, but it wasn't terrible. The double cab 4x4 TRD didn't do it. My CM 4x4 TRD doesn't do it. I think it's sort of hit or miss which ones will and which ones won't, but most people report it going away after a couple thousand miles.

Ok....My truck just got back from the dealer and I asked to speak to the Technician because nothing was done to my truck stated on the form the dealer handed me. I spoke to the mechanic and he said this is a known problem with the 2007 models but he said generaly on the long beds....but mine is not a long bed. He said it was resolved on the 2008 but not sure what they did different at the moment. Updates will be available but not just yet.....meaning they need more complaints to fix the problem otherwise it's stated as being an "axle wrap" issue.

I traded in an '06 DC with 8,000 miles on it for the '07 DC. I loved the '06. It was silky smooth, quiet and had absolutely no noises, slaps, etc. I thought I was buying an even better truck in the '07. BIGGEST MISTAKE I EVER MADE.
I should have kept the '06, it was a much better truck. I should have known better than buy a first year model truck. I should have waited at least a year to allow Toyota to fix and work out all the kinks and bugs. I bought the truck from Balise Toyota of Warwick, RI. They are bad news and have not come through on any of the promises they have made.

clunking/slap in drivetrain

I had the same exact problem with my 07 regular cab 4.7 4x4. I took it to three different dealerships before one finally agreed it was a problem. Turned out to be a bad driveshaft. The tolerances of the splines on the driveshaft were way to excessive. They replaced the driveshaft and it is perfect now. Keep bringing it back until they fix it. Don't let the tell you it's normal. It is definately something that can be corrected. Don't give up!

I used to live in Warwick. Hoxie four corners by the airport. Back in 1999 - 2001. The slap isn't a normal operation on any vehicle. They need to step in and do the fix. Eventually a major issue will show it's ugly head later on.

I have the same problem on my 2008 CM 4x4 Ltd TRD. So it was obviously not fixed for the 08 model. Right now mine won't start (a different issue). I will have the dealer look at this problem too.

Same problem. Finally able to get the dealership to swap driveshafts with a new truck. Problem solved. Toyota will try to send you away without fixing the problem, but several of the forum members have had this problem solved with new driveshafts. Like FatBoss said, don't give up.
