Fuel tank capacity?

2011 crewmax 4x4
Just purchaced, going on fourth tank of fuel, so far I have driven it down (2 times) till fuel guage is litteraly on E and information screen has said I had less than 5mi. to go. Both times I have only been able to put 20 1/2 to 21gal. of fuel in it. I have waited 5 minutes and forced as much in as possible. Specs say it holds 26 gal? Has any body been able to put in any more fuel?
PS- I have been getting 16.5mpg, hand calculated. 75% highway

I've driven my 2011 Double Cab 5.7L 4x4 and additional 30+ miles beyond when the information screen hit zero and still only put 22 gallons in my 26.6 gallon tank.

the tundra has a 100L tank. when you hit 80 L, the reserve comes on.

so whenever you hit reserve and the light comes on, you got 20 liters to go. which is alot

100L = 26.42 US galons
20L = 5.28 US galons

Yes what he ^ said. Tank says empty at 21 gallons used however there is still 5 gallons left on "E". This was an annoying concept to teach my wife as she freaks out whenever the gauge shows beloe 1/4 tank.

well it depends on you average MPG.

5 gallons left on E multiplied by XXmpg = miles after E.

Probably just a good idea to fill up on E and realize that you could go another 50-80miles if needed.

its not the best idea to wait until after reserve to put fuel in your truck. you should fill up.

as you start pulling fuel from the bottom of the tank, you run the risk of pulling more setament/gunk into the fuel system. the truck has filters and such to help prevent this, but its preventative measure imo to fill up just before or when that light comes on.

I've gone over 50 miles with the gauge buried on "E" and the display indicating zero miles to go. I still only got in just over 23 gallons.
