maybe try 0w30, thats what i just put in and i notice a big difference. Could be all in my head, but i know what your talking about in bumper to bumper traffic. I had that to, a lot less noticeable. I realize your probably thinking i am nuts, bcause shifting has nothing to do with motor oil, but just saying, after i just got the oil changed, it is a lot smoother..........

I guess mines does it. Tried it today coming down a bridge coasting then stopped for a red light. It tried to lunge forward.

That's not it... I think that's the binding drive shaft issue your experiencing.

What this thread is discussing it the 2-1 downshift when slowing from cruise speed to a coasting stop... the truck downshifts early and uses the engine braking to slow it down....

Dealer want's to replace the yoke-shaft TSB after I described it, even though not leaking. I feel the downshift from 3 to 2 and 2 to 1 when slowing down only.
Service guy stated they replaced allot on 4x2 ,07's. sO MUCH THAT THEY HAD EVERYTHING IN STOCK, but I will take it in next week to get rental for work.

A few other smaller concerns like the sinking dash, he mentioned pulling it but worried about noises after reinstalled. Has any dealer fixed any ones without pulling all of dash?

I took it in because I noticed it, not all the time on lower downshift gears more.

Hope this doesn't make something else worse.

Makes me wonder about buying ext warranty?

They replaced rear seal due to leaking dif, no problem after 15,000 miles.

I guess if you have warranty, use it.

Try driving up a hill at around 20 mph with a steady pedal but not enough pedal where you are maintaining your speed. In other words, your going up the hill and slowing down but still have your foot on the gas. It will SLAM! into first and scare the crap out of you. I hit the gas up the slow hills to avoid this. Other than that, this is a great transmission for an automatic.

I have an 08 DC that does the same thing. Hard downshift between 40 and 30 MPH. Seems to be much more noticable in the hot summer here in SC. Truck has done this since I got it in Feb 08. It is especially bad when just feathering the gas to come to a gradual stop-not a coasting stop.

Well they "knocked out the bump in the spline", whatever that means and if anyone knows and the clunk hard downshift front 2nd to first is gone, but there is a bump (like gear shifting) at complete stop at stoplight with truck not moving. This is noticed now and new.

I don't know what that is, and it is new after they did the above?

Dealer want's me to bring it in to see if they can recreate.

They resurfaced breaks and used same pads if that adds anything.

Very frustrating to give up one and receive another type of...bump.

If you ever drove commercial trucks you would appreciate and understand the thought behind the technology a little better.
Good point couldent have said it better myself.

As it should. As a full synthetic it could go 7,000+ depending how you drive

Thought brake pads were cheeper than transmissions. Need to use tranny braking for towing or off roading only. M07 CM does this when desending and touching the brake.

My '08 DC 5.7 does it too. At 40mph slowing due to a hill with a little throttle on it downshifts at about 35mph...big clunk. If you coast it will down shift softly and if you have alot of throttle on is will downshift normally. It happens only with light throttle when shifting from 5th to 4th gear. I have 40,000 miles so far with no major issues although the dealer did change the front diff. at 10K miles...even though I did not think there was anything wrong. Love the Tundra! My opinion may change if I pass the 60K mark and begin having transmission or 4X4 component issues.
