More Rust!!!!!!!

Nukedog, I live up in Canada, and as im sure everyone knows canada= cold and long winters. I use my truck for work, and i washed my truck maybe three time the hole winter, lots of salt and moisture, and i have zero sruface rust on the body of my truck, I've got little specs of rust on my rear bumper along the bottom, but thats expected. Just thought i would throw that in there.

I live in Canada too. Have you looked under the rear doors? My paint looks like it was sandblasted off and is down to bare metal like the pics that MarcDW posted. But mine hasn't started rusting yet. I just put some grease on those spots for now since they're not visible unless you look underneath.

That happens on every Tundra (07 up) unless you have the step bars.
I had last week the chance to talk to a Tundra owner from FL who has his summer home up here in Maine (we call them snow birds) and on his 08 he had the same wear on the end of the rear doors.
In his case it was not rusting, just the bear metal.
I guess if you drive every day it keeps the metal sand blasted clean so that rust does not built up.
So it has nothing to do with were you are from, rather how much you drive and if you have the step bars.

I am not sure I buy that?? I am going to wash and detail my truck today, so I will look hard at mine and see what I find. My truck has only seen one winter, but they use enough "magnesium chloride" on the streets for road deicer to see rust on bear metal. I will take pictures of what I find.

Marc, I just went out to check my truck, and mine has the rock gaurd that starts on the bottom part of the doors and its on the rocker panels as well, i see no bare metal. I don't have step bars either.I though all the Tundras have this rock gaurd on?

I took my camera out to take a couple of shots if I found something, but I did not find anything that I did not expect to find. I found a little rust on some bolts and a couple of other little parts, but it is nothing that would not be expected. If there was bare metal under there, the road deicer would have exposed it.

4k, that's why you don't have it yet!
Wash your truck really well and then check these areas.
I am sure you will find that your paint there is different then the rest!
Then use the clear 3" Scotch tape to carefully cover the metal in these areas.
This will safe you from this trouble!

I hit the trails once a week if not more, wash the truck once a month if that and I still have very little to no rust issues... nothing a little light weight sand paper, rust inhibitor, and a case a beer can’t fix on a Saturday afternoon.

That 03 Tundra did not even knew how a dealer looked from the inside.

My '07 is about to hit 11k - the more I drive it the more I love it! I wash this thing once a week and not a spot of rust and not a single hiccup with it.

5k on mine and I love it too. Only rust I have seen is a little bit in the two hooks under the front bumper . I already bough some sandpaper and some rustproof product at wal mart to work on it this coming weekend.
