While GM and Ford are sure a lot of cars, there are plenty of other manufacturers who don't put this burden onto their customers.
But we had this discussion already.

toyota? never again for that alone. integrity? responsibility? forget it. marc, i might visit a shrink, or a hypnotist, but not because there's anything wrong with you - yet. you seem really mad and you've got just cause it seems, and beyond. i've been there too, i know and it sucks. you could just sell the thing but that's costly and unfair. you could keep, it but you're feeling screwed over and lied to every time you look at the thing. getting slapped around when you put your trustin a company/product /person is exactly the make up of a "classic" abusive relationship. figure out how to become less angry and fight back with a level head.
stay tuned. and don't buy a tundra or you'll be sorry like me!

Marc leased the truck so there is no worry about keeping it. He refused to meet the rep on the rep's time. He went his way about doing things and it don't work that way. He brought alot of it upon himself.

As a bit of a follow up, I finally got around to doing something about these bare spots under the rear doors. I applied a coating of rubber silicone after sanding off the light surface rust that had formed. These areas are not noticeable unless the door is open and you look underneath, so looks was not too critical. Luckily, since my truck is black, the silicone blended in nicely.
I could have gone to the dealer, but the best they would do is just apply some touch up paint which would only last a few weeks I'm sure.
Seadragon you had your bumper replaced with no other issues with it. Why not let the dealer fix this issue also?
Yes, that is true. However, in this case, I felt comfortable in doing this small fix after talking to the body guy I know. The dealer told me they would just touch it up. But I know that won't last. I could have just kept going back to them, but my fix was so easy to do.
I dunno... I just feel that this is the end of this problem now. I checked it tonight and its cured to a nice thick rubbery coating with no signs of wear after driving it all week.
But, my dealer is good enough that if I did have more problems, they would help me out I'm sure.
Knowledge is power. I watched a bodyshop guy fix my new 98 Silverado's scratches on the rail. He used windex and then very thin sand paper wash it out and used color Turtle wax then buffed it out. No more scratches.
