I have an '08 DC with the 5.7 and it has the most sensitive throttle of any car I have ever driven. It is difficult to start from a hill, because I literally spin my tires no matter how hard I try not to.
Background... I ran into a guy who said that he used to own my truck. He loved it but went through a divorce and it had to be sold. Well, he said that he had a programmer on it, or a chip of some sort. He made it sound more like a programmer, but I don't know anything about them. At any rate, I am assuming that the touchy throttle came from this.
I have had it for about a year and a half and my wife has driven it mainly as her daily, but I just got her a minivan and now the truck is all mine! I love the power, but the sensitivity is killing me.
Any ideas on how I can change it back to factory, or fix my current annoyance?
The sensitive throttle is called tip in and it is harsh. I have a stock 2012 and had difficulty getting used to it. I've owned high performance vehicles before but this is pretty bad. My wife's lexus IS350 is also harsh. She claims I try to run it like my sports car but it's really that I dirve it so infrequenty that it's hard to adjust. I was after good mileage so I tried to feather the throttle every chance I got. It's much better after a few thousand miles. The wifes is still a challenge. BMW's have a much more linear tip in and easier to control. They respond when you stomp on them but you can still slowly creep.

I know nothing about it, or how/where it is installed, but maybe on or near the gas pedal? Google it and see if you can find the install instructions, and pull that junk out

I remember reading in here about a recall or TSB on the gas peddle being to sensitive? Maybe check with your local Toyota Dealer and have them run the vin# for any updates. If not what bad dad said read below..............

AIP Failure on 12/30/12 @ 3059 miles got it back on 01/9/13.
I had the gas pedal recall done on my '07 They used the shim, or whatever. It sucked. It made the pedal stiffer, and harder to control. I took it back in and got the whole new pedal, and it was fine. I was just thinking that the guy mentioned some kind of programmer or something, so it could possibly be that sprint boost gimmick that I heard about a while back.
