Experienced AFE CAI Users Only

I am interested in the AFE CAI but before I drop the money on one, I want to get some feedback from those of you that have been using AFE and have upgraded you exhaust with a CATback of some kind to open it up. Have you actually noticed a measureable increase in MPG and if so, how much? Thanks in advance for your help.

No notice in MPG gain at all. Right now my truck has 6k miles on it and the MPG calculator says i'm getting 14mpg. I put on the CAI and Exhaust at about 1.5K. My MPG calculator went up from like 10mpg to 14 but I chalk that up to the fact that they probably used my truck for test drives at the dealership and you know people floor it when on test drives. Also, once I put in the CAI/Exhaust, I found myself flooring it more and more often due to the beautiful sound / feel it creates. I doubt that with any CAI/Exhaust combo you will get enought of an MPG gain to cover the cost of the hardware. It'll be a long time before that maybe 1mpg gain covers the cost of it.

That's exactly what I was going to suggest but, I couldn't because I am not a AFE user. (RE) the title, AFE users only!

I did the same thing, exhaust and AFE CAI and noticed no MPG gain, I can not justify the cost of the intake.

You may not see an improvement in MPG's, but you will notice a bit of a power gain.

I can hardly ever justify the cost of anything I do to my truck but I do it anyways! haha...I want an AIRAID but just haven't found the right price yet. People that get em and complain about the sucking noise are like people that buy a dual exhaust and complain that its loud or drones!! Its a CAI...it looks/sounds cool. No you aren't going to get +50hp or +10mpg...but it looks/sounds cool and maybe your throttle response will increase slightly.

I put the K&N polished on my 01 JGC about 2 years ago and I love it!!

All...your feedback has been very helpful. Currently, I have the K&N drop in filter in the stock box. My MPG did improve after the exhaust upgrade and filter change, but I am not sure how much of it was due to the filter, if any at all.

I have to agree, I always find a reason for a mod. I think it's still a nice add on, especially when you get a new exhaust as well. I will probably end up getting one as well in the near future

I've been fighting off the temptation to change out my exhaust. I had FLowmasters on my 6 liter Chevy and it was damn loud, way too loud actually. I've checked out the sound clips on the Zoomers, they sound pretty nice. What do you think of yours?

If you have to justify the cost of anything on your truck, you can't afford it. I installed an AFE CAI Stage 2 CX over the weekend and all I can say is it's awesome. I notice quite a difference in power and my mileage has gone up a slight amount. More than anything, the sheer sound of it is enough to justify the cost for me. You only hear it when you step on the gas hard and it's a loud rumble. I've had ricers looking over at me trying to figure out what the hell it is.

I must say though, the instructions do suck. Small printing, b&w pictures too small to really see and fragment sentences describing what to do. But once you get pass all of that, it's awesome. The only downside is, I'm still running stock exhaust.

I had an AFE intake installed and after a few days I removed it. No increase in MPG. Maybe I am getting old but I found the noise annoying. No power increase as well.
