TOFTUN4 Timbren Install Front End 2008 Tundra
Hello All,
This is my first post. I just bought a 2008 Toyota Tundra Double 5.7L. I installed a Timbren TOFTUN4 today, in preparation for my Boss snow plow to be installed next week. As another poster had shown the installation process for rear Timbrens, I thought I'd share the install process for the fronts. Took me about 25 minutes a total to install. And several beers... ![]() You will need a 5/16 Hex, jack and channel locks. For my install, I removed the tire, but you do not need to. Basically, you will jack the front end up. Locate the rear bump. The Tundra has two bumps. After speaking with Timbren today, they recommend replacing the rear bump, but said either would work. Use your channel locks, remove the old bump. Screw in the Timbren, hand tight, then use your 5/16 Hex socket and tighten. Absolutely easy. I have attached photos of the process. They are of the passenger side, except the final picture is of the completed assembly from the drivers side. Forgot to get one from the passenger side, sorry. Hope this helps all. Ron |

If I'm not mistaken this takes away a litle of the front end travel, what is the purpose of the timbrens?

It does take away a little front end travel. It is used to help reinforce the front end for adding a snow plow. As snow plows are typically heavy and hard on front ends of trucks, Timbrens help limit this.
I've put them on all the trucks I owned. Never have had a problem with front end travel. http://tundratalk.net/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif ![]() |

Exactly. And there's no need in destroying such a GREAT vehicle.
This is my first Toyota. I've historically been a GM guy and now that I've come to the dark side, I don't think I will be going back...http://tundratalk.net/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif ![]() |

I put a 8' Curtis plow on my 08 sr5 5.7 with out the timbrens on my plow scraped the road when i hit big bumps, The plow is too heavy for the stock springs. I put them on in about 15 min. by hand tools so so easy! well after I put them on ,the truck keeps the plow up no scraping at all . And the travel of the front end is ok too, i have a dip in the ground in the back yard that i hit if i park my lawn trailer in the back yard. No biggie. if it is a problem I will put stock bump stops on in summer . Whats 15 min. The worst part about puting a plow on was that I had to cut out some of my front lower bumper plastic and the bar on the plow holder sticks out . erg but it is a work truck for me.
