TruckCustomizers.com 876.11 shipped for the touring, single side exit. Way too much $$ I know. But not bad when compaired to the Borla/TRD folks!

That sounds good. Well I ended up going with the Borla. I like the sound of the Corsa. I think you will be happy with it.

What about the opening on the front of the box near the bottom, did you cover it up so as not to take hot air in from the engine? Your mod is cool, just wanted to know what you did with the other opening.

Ohh well it's done.... SO ramoine you're not the only one. Had to go to junkyard and found a piece and cut it off. Junk man didn't know where I got it charged me a $1 for it. I love it when they let you go get the part you need.

There's only two openings on the AFE. I'm a little lost in what opening he's talking about.

There is an opening on the very front of the box. AFE claims it is because the filter draws SO MUCH air that the fender hole can't provide enough air to the engine at high RPM's. Their theory is that at higher RPM's the enging compartment air won't be warm, because you are obviously moving which would be replacing the warm air with moving air. However, most of us don't drive above 4000 rpm's anyways so something needs to be done to shut this opening at lower speeds and/or standing still, and allow it to open when necessary at higher speeds/rpm's. I have been thinking about it and i think it would require some sort of spring action. Anyone have any ideas? Can't wait to see what you guys come up with because i have seen some pretty amazing stuff come off of this site. Especially this mod that i have read about. Congrats on the fine piece of rigging, Sir.

Check into a vacuum type actuater. At low RPM when the engine is pulling the most vacuum the actuater should pull the door closed. At higher RPM as the engine vacuum decreases the door should open.

I'm confused. The engine isn't sucking vacuum at it's highest rate when a higher RPM's? I was thinking of a soft tension spring method when air is being forced against the door at higher speeds the door would open allowing the air to come in and when slowing down or sitting still it would remain closed. I have to in fact GET my afe intake in the mail before i can even start on this. Taking FOREVER!!!!

Not 100% positive but I think the old Dodge shaker hoods worked off of vacuum.
